JJ Abrams is a special kind of stupid.
The actor said his pitch to director JJ Abrams was met with resistance because "It's not Luke's story anymore."

While I can object that JJ had no plans to bring the Gang back together (he should have), this article is silly.
Because of the way the Mystery Box of this movie was set up I don't even think they did press tours with the Big Three, did they? Yes, I think this was a mistake.
BUT.
"It's not Luke's story anymore." I've seen responses like this answer was the dumbest thing that JJ has ever said or even thought. But it's NOT Luke's story anymore. Why is that crazy?
There is more to the interview where Hamill tries to say that Star Wars wasn't Obi-Wan's story either but he had a crucial role to play. OK. And in the next movie Luke had a crucial role to play. What does that have to do with if the Gang meets up again?
"It’ll only take 30 seconds." I've had a few days to think about this. Imagine that TFA comes out and Luke, Leia, and Han (and Chewie, Artoo, and Threepio, and even Lando) are together for THIRTY SECONDS. Out of the whole movie.
Who would that make happy?
But let's say this was a genius idea and 30 seconds would have salved the nerdy wounds of a million fans.
Where? When? Before Han dies? Then they're not looking for Luke anymore, are they? Where does that go in Rey's story for this film? Where, in the story that Hamill signed up for, does this scene go?
Is it a flashback? Is that going to be OK? They never meet again because Luke is hiding and Han is dead (just as now). But we see them in a flashback. Is a flashback going to be good enough?
He makes it sound like they were hanging around on the set, or even at the table read, and Hamill (and ONLY Hamill?) made a very reasonable request that JJ cruelly and insanely shot down.
That's nuts.
