That's true. I could likely have been watching Scooby Doo or who knows what instead on another channel. Was it on at the same time as the Alf cartoon and Punky Brewster cartoon? I know I watched both of those as well.

I watched that show as well.
The "The Ewoks and Droids Adventure Hour" was opposite "Muppet Babies" and "Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n Wrestling" on CBS, and the "Smurfs" and "Its Punky Brewster" on NBC. (over the course of the 1985-86 season)
ABC also was moving when the "Ewoks/Droids Adventure Hour" was from Fall, Winter, and Spring, probably to get away from those rival shows. In March they might have managed to get a half-hour of it in to a spot with the other networks doing reruns of "Richie Rich" (CBS) and "Alvin and the Chipmunks" (NBC), but it was likely too late by then.

I believe the Ewoks comic from earlier this year had the characters from the series and one of the other alien races on it's version of Endor.
I wasn't born yet when Ewoks and Droids originally aired, but I did watch the first few episodes of Droids on Disney+ a little while back. It was pretty good, but nowhere near the quality of the modern animated series. I was thinking about going back to it and checking out Ewoks, but the episodes of Droids I watched aren't marked on Disney+ anymore and I can't remember where I left off. So I might start off with Ewoks once I finish rewatching Season 2 of Rebels.
I have fond memories of watching 'Ewoks' on TV as a kid, both the cartoon and 'Battle for Endor' (I didn't see 'Caravan of Courage' until it came out on DVD), but I have a lot of affection for 'Droids' especially. I had 'The White Witch' arc and 'The Great Heap' special on VHS and watched them both countless times.
Indeed I still consider them "canon if you squint a bit", at least for my head-canon anyway. Honestly it works pretty well if you reframe their adventures as scouting missions for Fulcrum in the early years of the Rebellion; meaning Artoo as ever knows what he's doing, but Threepio is in the dark and genuinely thinks they're being constantly abandoned, sold and traded between masters.
I also like the idea that it's teen Daniel Logan Boba Fett that got into a speeder race to chase a target, and earned his stripes with Jabba by bringing in Sise Fromm instead. It would also track if many of the A-Wings Bail acquired were donated by Tammuz-an.
Not that it matters overmuch, but it does irk me a little how the lore of the show got warped a little in translation to other media (most of it stemming from a magazine article of all things.) For example; the intent of the show was clearly that Ingo and Annoo were in the same system (they literally loose their hyperdrive before travelling from one to the other for repairs), but other media has them in entirely different sectors.
Also, not a fan of the retroactive renaming of Kea's ship to "The Sand Sloth". Maybe it's just me, but "The Star Runner" is a much better name. Even if that's just the ship's model and it doesn't have a specific name, that's fine! It works for the Razor Crest, so why not? Not everyone has to name their car! Plus Kea's mother keeps actual sand sloths on her ranch. It'd be like a farm kid naming a boat "The Cow". It's weird.

As to why this keeps happening: it looks like some people ( unfortunately including content creators ) think that the purpose of warp/hyperspace/whatever is for when you want to get to another star system really fast because time is of the essence for some reason. Not getting that you need warp or hyperspace just to get there at all.
