Spoilers All Things STAR WARS - News, Speculation & Spoilers Thread

IIRC, Shadow Lord is meant to be full half hour episodes and maybe even over multiple seasons. It's basically meant to take over as the du jour animated Star Wars series now that Bad Batch is finished.
Glad to hear it, I was hoping that was the case.

'On April 30th, 2027, we’ll celebrate the 50th anniversary of Star Wars with a re-release of the 1977 classic back for a limited time, in theaters everywhere.

Part of Lucasfilm’s yearlong 50th anniversary celebration, Star Wars: A New Hope will play in theaters over the May the 4th holiday, also known as Star Wars Day.

Switch on your targeting computer and keep your eyes on StarWars.com for more details, including when and where to buy tickets to this once-in-a-generation event.'

No word if this will be the unaltered theatrical cut from 1977 - or the 2019 SE 'Maclunkey' cut.

Still, it is Star Wars on the big screen. :techman:

It would feel more appropriate if it was the original version, but there's probably still a decent sticking to Lucas's refusal to let anything other the new edits to be shown on a large scale.

As I've said many times over the years; it would be prohibitively expensive to remaster (or rather de-master) ANH to arbitrarily match one of the half-dozen iterations that movie went through prior to '97, and yes it would need to be remastered to make it presentable for the general audience. I mean they just did a very limited exhibition of an vintage print, and people still complained about the quality. The general audience would slate it.

On the other hand; I also don't see LF making any further significant alternations without George's oversight. For better or worst, the maclunkey cut (the last one George made for the aborted run at a 3D theatrical re-release) is likely what it will be from here on out.

Yeah you're probably right, but I just it just seems to me if they're ever going to rerelease the something closer to the original version, or at least the last pre-Special Edition version, the 50th would be a big enough deal that it might be worth it.
I honestly have no problem with the Special Editions, at least up to the 2004 DVDs, since that's the last versions of them I've seen, but I know a lot of people have been desperate to get a non-Special Edition release and it would be nice to see them finally get that.
