"All Good Things" was going to feature the Borg?

Heya,

All Good Things is one of my favorite TNG episodes, maybe my favorite of them all, but I've been reading about the development and history of TNG via the "The Fifty-Year Mission: The Next 25 Years" book and I found this on page 281, where Brannon Braga claims that: "Actually, there were going to be two paths we were going to play out, including part of the plotline in "Best Of Both Worlds" in which Hugh is aboard to save Picard. It would have been great to see that episode start to play out differently, but they felt it was just too much story and we'd better have only three time periods."

So All Good Things was originally going to feature the Borg? By going back to "Best Of Both Worlds", the best Borg episode ever? I always imagined the Borg would have been cool villains for the final episode, and I guess others agreed too. But it was going to feature Hugh as well? How is that possible? Does anyone have any other info on this? It's the first I've ever heard of it, and there isn't much info in the book.

This was mentioned in one of the issues of Star Trek: The Magazine, though the info about Hugh is new.

Michael Piller said they scrapped the Borg story because it was hard to think of anything for Picard to actually do during that time period. He was assimilated and stuck on a cube. He didn't have a lot of agency.

I found some interviews a few years ago of Braga and Moore mentioning it, but just that it'd take place during the BOBW. This book, which only came out this year, claims Hugh would be apart of it but nothing more is mentioned. I have no idea how Hugh woul even be involved? Did he just happent on on the same cube? Did Brannon Braga just misspeak? Dunno but sounds very interesting. Can't seem to find anymore info though

Apparently, according to one interview I read, it was Moore who wanted the Borg stuff (and a totally different anti time future) but Braga and Piller felt they were unnecessary.

What issue is this?

And Braga and Piller were correct. Unecessary, overkill, and the plot as aired was more than enough.

Meh, I think if done well it would have been awesome and strengthened the episode. As it is, it's quite good, but bogged down by some contrivances and massive technobable. I'm just curious to see what was planned
