All 755 live-action episodes ranked

Here's a completely subjective attempt to rank each season of Trek. I won't bother with tie-breaks, just rank each from 1-10. Including Lower Decks, but not TAS, because I find it impossible to rate (and I have a hard time calling the second block of 6 episodes a "season.")

10 - DS9 (4)
9 - TNG (3), DS9 (5)
8 - TOS (1), TNG (6), DS9 (7)
7 - TNG (4), DS9 (6), PIC, LDS
6 - TOS (2), TNG (5, 7) DS9 (1-3), VOY (4-6), ENT (4), DIS (2, 3)
5 - TNG (2) VOY (1-3, 7) ENT (2, 3), DIS (1)
4 - TNG (1) ENT (1)
3 - TOS (3)
I'd generally agree with this.

So that's why people call TNG cerebral :D

I enjoy the fact that Picard and Riker straight up do an extrajudicial murder killing in Conspiracy. It's an entirely different TNG era Starfleet we don't get to see again for awhile.

It was also amazingly gory for Trek. Easily the most explicit violence in Trek until the Kurtzman era.
And TUC. And Khan's face being half melted off.

I didn't mind the gore. I just didn't care for the whole storyline.
But it was par for the Season 1 course.
Which was not enjoyable for me. Every time I tried to get in to TNG early on it was something of a "Eh..."

That was kind of my point. Given how TNG Season 1 went, "Conspiracy" was a fitting finale for it. Thank the Maker they gave it a Season 2.

Contrary to most other shows TNG was given license to fail, at least two seasons, and still be kept on the air. Most shows are canceled in mid-first season, sometimes after only a couple of episodes.

I thought TUC was worse for the gore. Even Conspiracy couldn't beat TWOK for body horror either.
I didn't think twice about the "gore" in TUC. I saw it in the theater when I was 12 and what I thought to myself at the time was, "This looks like Pepto Bismol!" TWOK, on the other hand, yeah, that was gory. Anyone who thinks New Trek is gory but TWOK isn't is full of shit. Not that anyone here has said that.

I think the difference between "Conspiracy" and TWOK is that the exploding head in "Conspiracy" is so over-the-top that you can't take it seriously at all. Whereas in TWOK, it's all done for dramatic effect, serves as symbolism for the story, and hits a lot harder as a result.

The Enterprise incident is one of the best episodes of TOS, and is a big exception to the maddening S3. But seriously, Conspiracy a 10...??? Invasion of the Naughty Snatchers
I'm not the "Masterpiece Theater" type. I like Oscar Bait as much as anyone, but I'm not above loving things that are completely ridiculous. Have I not said I'm a fan of "Spock's Brain"? ;)

And I really hate Film Snobs. I work for public access TV, but I also do (very) independent film on the side. So many people in my circles love, love, love Stanley Kubrick, Martin Scorsese, and the like. And if I hear someone talk about The Shining one more time...

The Shining is one of the greatest stories of all time, but maybe I'm biased because the author lives 1 town over.
