Aliens in TMP

the vet

There were certainly some interestng desgns like the Megarites, Kazarites and Arcturians (though I find it had to beleive Arcturians were clones who made up the infantry of the Federation, surey that would be unethical?), which ones would you like to see reappear?

I always thought that the idea of the Arcturians being cloned infantry was interesting and opens up some interesting possibilities for story telling. Years ago I came up with the idea of having an Arcturian Chaplin who broke from his training.

As someone has already mentioned on another post i was a bit dissapointed having looked at the film programme which featured pics and descriptions of them that they only appeard fleetingly in the actual film

All of them :)
Absolutely! I'm so bored of make-up artists being given free reign to introduce yet another pointless cool-looking alien. They should work with what they've got and try not to screw up like the shaved Caitian hookers.

My favourites are the Zaranites. I featured one in my own star trek comic on you tube! Andorians are a close second.

I also like the Arcturians although given the 'official' ban on cloning mentioned so often in the TNG era I would simply convert the Arcturians to a genderless species with a stable genome that reproduces through self-cloning i.e. growing a child from their own cells in their own womb. Whether they would also keep artificial wombs to increase population density during war time could be an interesting plot point. You would need to have a lot more background Arcturians to make that fly though.

I'm hoping the new TV series does away with human-dominated ships and has the likes of Betelgeusians, Deltans, Rhaandarite, Rigellian-Chelon, Kazarite, Saurians, and Zaranite feature as background extras.

The Motion Picture did a drastic overkill on the background aliens- each came from a planet with a complete back story, their costumes were detailed to the point accessory jewelry has embedded electronics (a lot of the fabric had been created for 'The Ten Commandments' and in storage since)- any one of those background aliens could have been brought into the foreground and given a significant role in the film.

A lot of them were pretty interesting and I would have liked to have seen more of their race in later shows/films instead of the parade of funny noses and bumpy foreheads we got instead.

I also would liked those aliens to be expanded upon instead of the bumpy head brigade.

I'm a bit embarrassed, but when I read the thread title, I thought of Xenomorphs on the Enterprise!
Holy Crossovers!

Wow, I just read the article on MA about Arcturinans! Sounds like Sontarans! Even looks like them, too. Maybe it's better they weren't shown anymore then they were.

I did do an alien cross over on YouTube! There's also another far better one called star trek the motion comic I think.

In the UK, Weetabix ran a promotion for TMP, where you collected stand up cards of the characters, and I remember they featured several of the aliens.

Just a shame we didn't see more of them in the film, especially considering all the time, effort and money, that went into them!

I loved those cards but could never get Uhura. I recall wishing that all the crew had been in standard uniforms, and why no Chapel or Rand or Saurian engineer? If I'd had the artistic ability I might have drawn my own. Perhaps a job for photoshop!

I played with mine until they fell apart! For some reason I was sure that the bald Vulcan was Spock's father!

Actually the Rigellian Chelonians remind me of the er..Chelonians in Doctor Who

In the comics, Star Trek has crossed over with Planet of the Apes, Doctor Who, and even Green Lantern. I don't know why they haven't done Aliens - it might be a licensing thing, or maybe they just think it would be too dark and gory.

The should do Star Trek vs Aliens Vs Predator Vs Terminator

The Rigellians were good—although if I were going to bring them back, I'd make them digitigrades. The rest I could do without. I also never really liked the Andorian makeup in the movie. (After TOS, the Andorian makeup in all their attempted incarnations was pretty awful until Enterprise, really.)
