Spaceship crashes being totally no big deal is becoming an overused trope of late.

I've noticed that, which only means that I'll just notice it more and more. Whatever happened to technical and scientific advisors anyway?

Look at the crash site of airliners which impact straight down (more or less) as opposed to crash landing. It makes a crater, and not much is intact. And that's a 100 tonne aircraft at 700 mph. Now upscale that to Maginot mass and velocity. I keep thinking Tsar Bomba level explosion.

Whatever you call the machine that makes sparks, you know the one from all those 1980s music videos, they certainly got a lot of use out of it for this show!

The show didn't exactly make it clear, but I think one of the crew members ( Tang ) might have been a synthetic. He was doing stuff that recalled David in Prometheus.
I thought this too but wondered was it just a red herring.

Definitely in the last 15 years it's just another big flashy plot point.

Replaced by the cigar smoking money men. At least, that's what I'd like to think.

I strongly recommend that you do
I seem to be the only who who found Romulusokay, but no game-changer. It was an Alien movie. To my mind, it was “just another Alien story”, in the same way that most modern Alien comics miniseries are. Perfectly good, well-made, but it was basically just “this year’s episode”, if that makes sense.

I watched the first 2 episodes and enjoyed them but I thought the computer generated xenomorph was a bit rubbish.

Killing is kind of what they do. Though, sometimes Xenomorphs use their prey to incubate their "offspring."
Sometimes but usually they capture people so they could be either impregnated by a facehugger or turned into an egg.
It just seemed very aggressive. It should be trying to create more of them.

I got the impression that Morrow might have crashed the ship into that specific area on purpose, like a controlled crash. Maybe it was a way to get around having to land and the ship being searched and lots of scary aliens being found on it. But why crash into an area controlled by a competitor rather than somewhere controlled by Weyland-Yutani? My theory falls apart! I'm sure we'll find out more later in the season.

Looked like a man in a suit (distractingly so at times) to me. Though I'm sure there were some digital shots.

I found that eye monster-controlled cat much more scary than the xenomorph.

I actually thought I saw a connection to Romulus, if only in the sense of shared plot elements.

Definitely, with the scene where Joe tried to get out of his contract, but was told he had to work for another 7 months.

Good show, looking forward to watching the 3rd episode tonight. Pretty ambitious so far. Love the new aliens.

But don't we pretty much already know how the series will end? Weyland Yutani wins in the end, right? Don't they beat the other corporations? (Maybe not, maybe that's just all we've seen in the movies. I suppose Prodigy could still be around during some future movies, just hanging out in Thailand or wherever.) But we do know that WY won't get their hands on an actual alien xenomorph this early, so I'll assume Wendy (or her brother) destroys it. On the other hand, if there really are plans for future seasons, hmm, I guess it may play out differently.

Joe saw the acid, immediately knew what it was and got the hell away from there, so clearly none of the characters in future Alien movies are his offspring.
