Alex Kurtzman is a wrong fit for Discovery

Season 1 of discovery was okay and quite promising but the show's second season was mediocre despite great performances from the actor who played Captain PIKE and it all boils down to one issue. Alex Kurtzman lack of great talent problems.

Thing is Alex is a generic writer and story teller. most of his work is superficial at best. he is not capable of writing deep drama or coming out with a complex multi layered plot. all he knows is generic easy plot and paper thin science fiction and having a lot of action scenes. As a creator , I will not put him on the same wave length as Christopher Nolan , Norah Hawley, Alfonso Cuarón or some of the past best star trek writers that wrote episodes like yesterday's enterprise or the measure of a man.

Alex lack of talent is severely hurting this new trek shows. discovery season 2 overall story plot was mediocre and too predictable for words. it had lots of action you only see in mcu and transformers movies. Picard is almost the same thing. the first episode already had two shallow cool action fight scene because this is what Alex is about. the plot of Picard gets thiner and more predictable with each episode.

Looking at Kurtzman track record. the only thing good or even kind of good thing his name has ever been on was star trek 2009. No offence but I think it was a bad idea of the guy who wrote the transformers movies, wrote and directed the mummy, wrote star trek into darkness, cowboy and aliens, amazing spiderman 2 to be the head show runner of star trek.

in Hollywood the Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci partnership is one of the worst writing teams you could ever hire. 90% of there work barely gets any critical acclaim. Puting one of them as the master maker of star trek was a bad idea.

Is it possible to get rid of Kurtzman? I think season 3 is only going to get worse.

Kurtzman and Orci don't even work together anymore. He also wrote very little for season 2. Your post makes no sense whatsoever.
yes they don't work ogether anymore but when they did. they were one of the worst writing teams in Hollywood. if you want your film to get high critical acclaim, you are not expected to hire them. now they have split, the problem is still the same for Kurtzman.

the last episode of discovery: such sweet sorrow II is basically a transformers movie. it has lots of superficial big set action pieces but with zero substance or an engaging story worth of intellect.

the entire season 2 premise of the red angel won't even get you a 70% pass mark as a High school film student. the plot is that generic and predictable. this is how most of kurtzman story are written. reason he has never been a celebrated writer.

You do realise that Kurtzman isn't sitting at a computer writing every single episode of Discovery and Picard, right? And he isn't 'head showrunner'. Kurtzman is an Executive Producer in charge of overseeing all of the Star Trek series, which is not the same thing as a showrunner. Michelle Paradise is Discovery's showrunner and Michael Chabon is Picard's showrunner. From the sounds of things, Kurtzman seems to let the showrunners and writers do their own thing and has actually been a force for positive change by getting rid of Harberts and Berg, Discovery's original showrunners, for bullying the writing team.

I don't like all the movies that he has written but Kurtzman seems like a pretty nice and genuine guy in interviews and I think he has a real love for Star Trek. The notion that he is working on Star Trek in order to intentionally ruin it is fucking ludicrous.

Don't worry about Kurtzman, he's out, gone.

They only made Picard to hide how badly Discovery was tanking.

KURTZMAN IS DONE!
And Lower Decks to hide Picard's failure.

And Section 31 to disguise Lower Decks' cancellation

And the Pike show is fake news to distract from Kurtzman having been a crudely animated meat puppet for the past 2 years since his first firing.

I've heard they've already fired Kurtzman six times and watched him until he packed all of his things and left... but every time when they came back to open the studio the next morning, he was back working at his desk like nothing happened, even when they walled his office off after he had left, so eventually they just gave up and decided to let him be.

No need to open the same thread in multiple forums. As you seem to want to discuss Kurtzman's influence on Trek, your other copy will be moved to General Trek Discussion.
