Best kind of alcholol, TrekBBS? Right now, I'm kinda partial to beer.

Mmm, beer.

^ Wine is definitely good, and I like it a lot if I'm in the right mood. Tonight was more of a beer night, though.

Saturday night right?

I had my beer last night (as it's Sunday afternoon now here)

If I could only have one drink it'd be Bourbon.

Yup. Saturday it is, and a friend's birthdya party was had.

And I prefer scotch to bourbon, myself.

I'm a beer fan too - mostly the darker stuff. The bar ChrinFinity and I frequent serves Tankhouse Red, which is nowhere near as good as Rickard's or Keith's Red, but it does the trick. About once a week, we'll go somewhere for lunch that's licensed, and I'll usually have Rickard's, though I've picked up a habit of drinking Asahi whenever we go for sushi.

For nicer occasions, I'll usually have Scotch, though I'm not adverse to wine - so long as it's dry. I don't understand the ice wine craze one bit. Blegh.

Shoot, now I'm kind of wishing I'd gone out tonight - I haven't gone out by myself in a while. Still too tired from the work week. :( But I think I might have a few bottles of beer in the fridge.

I like both dark and light, depends on my mood. I had a bottle of Beau's lager before heading out tonight, then a couple of pints of Rickard's Red while at the bar. I enjoy both, but for different reasons.

I've never heard of Beau's - is it local to Ottawa?

More or less. It's brewed in Vankleek Hill, and I think Ottawa is the only major city it's available in. We consider it local, at the very least. ;)

Wine remains my favourite, esp. red Bordeaux and white Burgundy. And my cocktails of choice are usually G&Ts and martinis (plus the occasional Tom Collins or Negroni). But I have to put in a couple of seasonal votes for port and esp. sherry, which remains a woefully under-rated tipple.

God, I love good booze... :D

*WHAT A REAL WOMAN DOES*

A real woman is a man's best friend. She will never stand him up and never let him down.
She will reassure him when he feels insecure
and comfort him after a bad day.

She will inspire him to do things he never thought he could do; to live without fear
and forget regret. She will enable him to
express his deepest emotions and give in
to his most intimate desires.

She will make sure he always feels as though he's the most handsome man in the room and will enable him to be the most confident, sexy, seductive, and invincible. . .

No wait... Sorry... I'm thinking of beer.

Found on another board I go to.

For me its Beer or Crown & Coke, too much wine turns me nasty, so I only have it with Christmas dinner.

Wine first and foremost, especially during meals. Mostly Italian varietal, not really for patriotic reasons but because that what's most easily found around here. My favourites include Barbera and Bonarda from Piedmont, Lambrusco from Emilia, and Sangiovese from Romagna. White wines from Tyrol are also very agreeable, especially with fish dishes. I also enjoy sweet, almost liquorous Passito wines (something that wiki informs me it's called "straw wine" in English) with desserts. No festive meal is complete without Limoncello, of course.

Beer is more of a company drink for me, best enjoyed at a pub with a few friends. My favourite is Guinness by far, but I also enjoy light, pale lager beers like Corona Extra (for a scorching summer afternoon, for example), or bitter beers like London Pride. Czech beers are awesome, but hard to find here. There are a few nice small brewery in Italy that I enjoy (especially Menabrea).

I also like vermouths (Martini Bianco first and foremost) and aperitifs like Campari and Aperol, especially in cocktails.

As for stronger spirits, I used to enjoy flavoured vodka and gin cocktails, but nowadays I hardly drink that any more. I guess I'm growing too old for them. :shifty:

British real ale for me, and the more local, the better. I enjoy the local cider, too. I'm a complete lightweight when it comes to alcohol and can nurse one pint for hours, so it's a good thing real ale is served warm. I'll drink wine at home but not when I'm out because it's such a rip-off in pubs and restaurants.

I'm usually a beer man. There's a ton of BC breweries I'm still trying out. When I'm at the liquor store or a restaurant/bar I usually pick something random I've never tried before.

My alternate regular drink is (amber) rum & coke. Occasionally rye & ginger.

I used to like wine a lot more than I do now....now I find it often just gives me a headache and a dry mouth.

I very happily abstain from most drinking. I haven't had alcohol since November of last year.

The only alcohol I've tried are Budweiser, most of Sierra Nevada's beers, Canadian whiskey, and Irish Cream (tried that when I was 9 and my mom let me have a sip).

Sierra's Pale Ale, Summerfest Lager, and Porter are good, as is Irish Cream.

^^ Same here. It's Twisted Tea for me when I'm in the mood for something alcoholic. Otherwise, hot Tea or Iced tea.
