Alas, Poor... Andre?

I'm really tired right now, too tired to comment, but thought you might get a kick out of this story if you haven't heard it already:

Dr Who star David Tennant has fulfilled a concert pianist's dying wish by using his skull in performances of William Shakespeare's Hamlet.

Andre Tchaikowsky, a Polish Jew who escaped the Holocaust and settled in Britain, bequeathed his skull to the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) to be used as a prop.

I'm sure some of the more squeamish members of the audience/production crew will have a bone to pick about this!

Ewww.... I wonder if they used it during the performance I attended. There were a couple of different skulls in the graveyard scene, and I remember thinking how different they looked from each other. Good job it isn't April.

A fellow of infinite jest of most excellent fancy?

Hmm?

A kuttke bit of Bill and ted slipped in with my bard.

If you saw him at Stratford, chances are Mr Tennant was onstage with his... fellow actor playing the part of Yorick.

Maybe I'm a freak, but it actually sounds kinda cool. I'd love to do the same thing when I passed on, but I have a feeling its probably illegal in the US.

Well, that makes noooo sense to me, whatsoever. This skull, used as a prop, was drawing people in, right? So, they dump it because people like it too much? What?

Maybe they were afraid someone would grab it.

Good on Andre to have his skull used, regardless. A shame he didn't live to see it happen himself.

"Too distracting?" How did they establish that, I wonder? The whole production is distracting, if you ask me. The whole thing is a flurry of activity, emotions, comings and goings, famous actors strutting their stuff to the appreciation of an enthusiastic and receptive audience. The amazing chandeliers are distracting, the giant mirror up stage is distracting. The three lions on Gertrude's bedhead are distracting (are we not in Demark?) I can't believe people are more distracted by a skull than they are by all or any of the above. But that's just me - distracted by the fangirls cackling at every move Tennant made, even when the movements weren't funny.

ETA: I've just re-read my post. I think I might have over-reacted a bit. Oh, well.

I'm sure they'll be subjected to some good natured ribbing. Hopefully they won't let it get beneath their skin. No use being dead serious about it.
