Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

Huh, curious. I didn't know about that.

But then I haven't read any of the comics or books (aside from the Ahsoka novel). When does that take place?

That said, how could he maintain form and/or enslavement after Vader's death?
It takes place just after The Empire Strikes Back. As for the rest, I have no idea. Like I said, just fanciful head canon until they establish otherwise.

How did Ahsoka end up in the world between worlds?

From Anakin's dialogue, I'm guessing she died. Or, just about died, since she'll obviously live. This is her near death experience.

Sabine's family confirmed killed on Mandalore. But the line that followed? Sabine thinks she could have saved them, and only didn't because Ahsoka didn't trust her. Likely that's contorted, considering Baylan is the source, and even if it's how Sabine sees it it's colored by grief and loss. But... Ahsoka and Sabine were involved in the Purge, somehow.

Totally called Marrok being just an Inquisitor. I also turned to my gf as the scene played out (she's never seen Rebels) and said "The spinning lightsaber tends to be a big death flag for these guys" just before I was proven right.

Snips and Skyguy, together again. For the first time in live action. This is a sequence I was hoping for. I hope they stick the landing.

Damnit, I knew I forgot something big when I listed all of the gut punches. There's definitely more going on there and Baylan undoubtedly distorted the truth of the actual situation...but it still sucks to have her whole family confirmed dead. With all of these hints, I hope we finally see the Purge televised in some fashion at some point and not just as a flashback.

And to even suggest as much is more than ridiculous.
And indicates a lack of awareness while watching this very show.

Or, you know, a troll.

If it were Luke's show, would you be saying "why doesn't he look for Ahsoka"? You keep beating this drum, and it's inane. She has a padawan and a badass Droid assistant. She doesn't need Luke. You need Luke.

As for Luke's supposed power, I would say he never got sufficient training to learn how to use it properly. I would trust Ahsoka's power and experience and knowledge over Luke at this point of the timeline without question.

Same reason why Hera called up the Senate. To ask for intervention, assistance and, yes, even approval.

Luke is in charge of the Jedi at this point. While that doesn't make Ahsoka his subordinate, it certainly means that he's the guy you at least notify if there's some sinister shit going on with evil force users devising devious plots with catastrophic, galactic-scale consequences.

No

Luke is probably dealing with Abeloth or the Vong at this time. Something more important. :)

I can't help but laugh at all of the people who worked themselves into a lather with ridiculous theories about Marrok. Sometimes a lightsabered thug is just a lightsabered thug.
I tried to avoid even seeing the theories, then I ended up seeing them anyway, then I started thinking it was Barriss. That plot point's been unresolved for 10 years.
So that Marek reveal was rather anticlimactic. He was just some gas creature in a humanoid suit.
When you put Marrok's death together with the death of the Inquisitor in TOTJ, it would almost seem like they're telling us "this is how Inquisitors die", were it not for the normal Inquisitor deaths in Rebels.

Ahsoka is a much bigger gun than Luke will ever be.

I want resolution for Barriss, too, but this didn't seem like the right place to do it.

Well the title of this one certainly has a number of interpretations. I mean at first you'd just assume 'Fallen Jedi' refers to Baylan, until you realise that it could also apply to both Ahsoka and Sabine at one time or another (I'm going to assume that Shin was never a Jedi, and Baylan began training her after his fall.) Oh and then there's that obscure cameo right at the end. I guess one might describe him as a fallen Jedi, if not THE fallen Jedi . . .
Great episode as ever; did not disappoint! Good balance of the fighty-fighty and the talky-talky. We got more insight into Sabine's motivations, and shed some light on Ahsoka's ongoing struggle with being a warrior above all else. I sense a hoopey staff and a new cloak in her immediate future.

Random thoughts and notes: -
  • Droids getting into a fist fight? How novel . . . and uncivilized.
  • I know he'd probably refuse on general principle (and programming) but Huyang really ought to have a sabre of his own if this kind of thing keeps happening.
  • Morgan's guards are clearly WAY better shots that Stormtroopers. Fives seasons of firefights and the only time we see Sabine get shot was when Vader deflected her own bolts right back at her. Thirty seconds of combat with these guys and they're landing multiple consecutive centre of mass hits! Lucky for her they apparently didn't notice she's unarmoured from the beltline to the knee and in the upper arms. Probably why she was staying low most of the time. I like when fights like this actually make sense.
  • The interior of The Ghost seems to have been scaled down a bit compared to the show. The cockpit is definitely more compact. I'm actually glad about this; the animated interior was always WAY too roomy. It was necessary for animation purposes of course, but live action can get away with it being a little more cramped.
  • Not at all surprised Hera is bringing Jacen along. Seems like a conscious choice not to do what her father did and try and shield him from what's going on. Hell, just having him on Home One at all rather speaks to that. It will probably also come with it's own consequences though. Like does that kid have any friends his own age after following his mum around from posting to posting?
  • Oh hey, Ahsoka is actually using a reverse grip for a change!
  • Well Sabine managed to keep her helmet on for exactly five seconds. What is this now, the MCU? I hope for her sake Huyang goes and retrieves it for her, since I'm pretty sure she just left it lying around in the woods.
  • Can't help but wonder what she didn't bring her jet pack, but to be fair I've been wondering that since the 'Rebels' coda scene.
  • Marrok may just be the best swordsman the Inquisitorius ever produced, just to have survived this long at all. But in in true Inquisitor fashion; not good enough, and how he's dead. Classic Samurai showdown though. Kurosawa would approve!
  • Oh no! Ahsoka just killed Luke's clone who is also Ezra and Barris somehow!
  • Just curious, but how long do we suppose he was holding in that fart? Did he get himself sealed in that armour the week after Order 66, forgot how to unseal it and has been stuck in there ever since, too embarrassed to ask for help? I could see Seventh Sister pulling that prank on him . . .
  • Just kidding. I'm pretty sure he was a zombie.
  • Uh ladies; Huyang specifically said to stay together! Maybe listen to the droid that's survived for 20 millennia around force wielding maniacs and stop trying to advance the plot all the time!
  • Some nice fight consistency here with Sabine. She's doing a bit better than last time, but not unreasonably so. And I like how they seems to always revert back to the ready position Kanan & Ezra taught her. Never anythign fancy. Always very direct. Very Mandalorian.
  • I don't know why it pleases me so much that they've really embraced the use of that dot-dash numeral system of late. Maybe because the other one just looked like slightly altered Arabic numbers, and it's a little jarring.
  • Curious implication that Baylan knew what Anakin became. Even the Inquisitors weren't supposed to be in on that one. Perhaps that's part of his talent? He does seem to have a clear sense and insight into people . . . which is also supposed to be Ahsoka's (and Yoda's) particular talent. I suppose it's possible he might have learned that relatively recently. Thrawn figured it out after all, and he may have shared that information with Morgan, though I can't imagine why.
  • Still very curious as to Baylan's motivations. What is it exactly he's trying to create, and why is it worth all the destruction Thrawn will unleash?
  • Also curious why Ahsoka is leaving the shoto on her belt for the most part this episode. That's not like her.
  • Did Shin just pull a Batman? I'm pretty sure Shin just pulled a Batman. Who even brings a smoke bomb to a lightsaber fight?
  • Oh! Baylan did the pointless twirley thing! Prequel Jedi confirmed! Seriously though, it's an interesting inclusion given now non-twirly his style has been otherwise.
  • Sabine must not be thinking clearly shooting at a not-Jedi without her helmet on. You'd think she'd remember what happened when she tried that on Vader . . .
  • Also pretty sure given how long it later took for Baylan's saber to destroy it, her shooting it probably wouldn't have done anything except maybe blow her own hand off.
  • I mean I've been about 90% sure Sabine's family were fried in the the Great Purge of Mandalore given the state she was in at the top of the episode, but now we have it confirmed. I suppose that makes her not just the last sion of Clan Wren, but the entirety of Clan Wren. Suddenly it's clear why Bo Katan didn't invite Sabine to her little party in Mando season 3; she probably can't bring herself to face her . . . but yet stayed somewhat in contact with Ahsoka. Curious.
  • Also I wonder if Fen Rau survived too. I hope so, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was on Mandalore too.
  • What did get my attention though was that whole "because your master didn't trust you." part. That seems to imply Sabine was with Ahsoka during the purge. Were they both there with Bo Katan when she surrendered? Or did Ahsoka stop Sabine from going back home altogether? We still don't have the timing of events pinned down, so this could have happened at any point during the OT.
  • I really hope Sabine has something up here sleeve here (like say an S-thread beacon?) because otherwise this will be a very dumb move. There's no reason she should believe they won't just execute her on the other side. Best case scenario they just leave her and Ezra stranded together.
  • Kinda funny how Shin makes a point of grabbing Sabine's blaster, as if she doesn't still have the second one in it's holster, a sabre on her belt, a pair of Mandalorian vambraces on her arms, a utility belt filled with gadgets, and probably rocket darts in her boots or something.
  • A little morbid, but have we ever seen Hera go on a single mission with a squadron and NOT loose at least one or two pilots?
  • On the plus side, Hera should now have enough proof to raise the alarm. I mean it's a giant hyperspace ring that can only be for jumping inter-galactic distances, and I'm sure if you took it's trajectory and triangulated it with Thrawn's last known trajectory from Lothal, they'll converge in a certain neighbouring galaxy.
  • This appears to be an all new build of the Ghost asset, or at least an extensive modification of the Rogue One/TroS one. Not surprising as this one is going to have to hold up as more than just a background ship, but there's also been some fairly extensive changes to the structure and proportions. The whole thing have been shrunk down a bit, and even shortened on the Z axis. The "belly" structure where the landing gear is housed no longer lies about flush with the forward ramp, but is tucked up a bit higher, and the distinctive kinked ventral tail has all but been completely shaved off.
  • That jump was wild. We've never seen a ship essentially jump *around* other ships before. A very strange quirk of it's sheer size and shape.
  • For a moment there I thought we might actually get to see an X-Wing pilot remember how to eject. Ah well!
  • OK, so we all know about the Gandalf thing right? So now that we're at that part of it when she falls and is about to get a wardrobe change, does that make Baylan the balrog of this scenario?
  • OK Kevin, what the hell? What's with the ominous partial quote of the Vader theme?
  • I don't think for a second that they're going with the asinine "Anakin's force ghosts is disfigured and half-evil" idea they batted around for TFA. This is a Filloni show, and he actually understands and respects the mythology. I suspect it's more of a "your focus determines your reality" thing, and what Ahsoka sees may just be what she wants to see rather than what's actually there.
  • That may not actually be Anakin's actual presence at all. I'm pretty sure he's wearing Vader's weapon. I think it's the first time I think any force ghost is seen with a weapon (what would they even need one for?) Also, there's his hand . . .
  • I think it's her trial of spirit. Facing the mirror. Which makes sense; we've never really seen Ahsoka tested like this before, and it is a rather important one for Jedi. Well, unless you count that time she fell to the dark side on Mortis and died, which I'm fairly certain counts as a failure.
  • So, who what's to bet Ahsoka is about to take a voidspace shortcut to Peridia? That said, I didn't see any gateways along those paths like when Ezra came through there . . .
  • Forget all the "where's Luke?" bleating, the real question we should be asking is "where's Moria?" Seriously, we're half-way done and we haven't heard hoot one!

I can't help but laugh at all of the people who worked themselves into a lather with ridiculous theories about Marrok. Sometimes a lightsabered thug is just a lightsabered thug.
It's always fun watching people tie themselves into knots trying to fashion a mystery out of thin air.
I never developed a theory as to who he might be until I saw him die. I think he was the Grand Inquisitor. The canon comics showed that the Grand Inquisitor survived as an enslaved Force ghost or wraith under the servitude of Darth Vader. This was the fate worse than death that he referred to before his "death" in Rebels.

https://www.reddit.com/r/starwarsre...ve_those_panels_of_luke_defeating_the_undead/

As far as I know, we never did learn what the Grand Inquisitor's original name was. Until they establish otherwise, I choose to believe that Marrok was the Grand Inquisitor and was finally set free from his servitude by Ahsoka.
Marrok being the wraith of the GI hadn't' occurred to me before now. At first I just assumed he was the same, or similar species to that one Ahsoka killed in TotJ. The one who's head deflated and seemingly evaporated when it was cut off. Now I'm wondering if he was a witchcraft zombie this whole time. Nightsisters are known for that kind of thing after all, and that smoke was a bit on the green side. That's usually a giveaway.

I'm honestly not sure what was going on with GI. My assumption at the time was that he was like the Nightsister Spirits; an incorporeal sentient copy of an intelligence, bound to a specific location through magiks and force shenanigans. Either way it was probably something Vader came across in his never-ending quest to transcend death.
Carson Teva is rapidly becoming one of my favorite characters in the canon. But, no Zeb? In this situation? That does not ring true.
I wondered the same thing, but I'm pretty sure Zeb wouldn't even fit inside an X-Wing, let alone be able to pilot one. I think they technically managed to cram him into several TIEs, the Phantom, and an Y-Wing on the show once, but they had to really fudge the scale. A U-Wing would probably be a better fit for him in live action. Better yet; an MG-100. Much roomier.

Of course this could be more evidence that this takes place before Mando season 3 and Carson isn't assigned to the Adelphi Rangers yet, and indeed perhaps both he and Zeb end up out there because of this whole thing.

Just some speculation on my part, but when Ahsoka gets done with her little side tip to the Space Between Worlds, logically, she could get the Purgil to take her to Thrawn/Ezera through the force. Ezera did it, why couldn't she? All she has to do is to convey through the force "take me home" and they could do the rest. I mean, really, they already know the way and know where they're going. Just need some prompting to "go home".

So I'm guessing that Ahsoka burning her hand will be another Raiders riff, using it Toht-style to find them somehow?
Only if she wants to end up digging in the wrong place . . .
I want resolution for Barriss, too, but this didn't seem like the right place to do it.
Exactly. If they're going to tell Barris's story, I'd rather they actually tell Barris's story, not just blow it on some cheap shock cameo only 5% of the viewership would even understand.

Much easier to just use the world between worlds to go straight there, no? But for the trip back on the other hand, that may indeed require hitching a ride with some space whales. Though you'd think if that was an option, Ezra would have done it already.
