Spoilers AHSOKA series [Spoiler Discussion]

Reva never bothered me. It made the Third Sister a more personal adversary for Obi-Wan and gave a visceral reason why she'd be hunting for him other than, "well, we're Inquisitors and THIS IS WHAT WE DO." Moses Ingram did a fine job, even in the scenes that could easily have been written better.

Took a few mins, but managed to get the credits mostly deciphered.
As one can see, the vast majority are fairly well known planets (and two hyperlanes) some specifically relevant, others not so much (yet?), or have simply featured in Rebels and/or Clone Wars. The rest are the three new planets introduced in these episodes (Arcana, Seatos & Peridea) plus three others I can't place. "Odyn" seems like a fairly obvious reference to all the Norse & Celtic lore references on display. While the other two are a little tricky since the "I" "N" runes are rather similar, and hard to distinguish when they're distorted and/or show from oblique angles. Also there was one rune I couldn't place with any of the eight unused letters. Presumably these odd ones out will show up later down the line.

Yavin is a curious inclusion given the role ancient ruins are playing in this show so far. Perhaps we'll be getting some Massassi connection? But it did feature in Rebels, so perhaps that's all there is to it.

I noticed this new rune script (Dathomirian?) also appears at both ruin sites and in the holomap, so I'll go back and have a look at deciphering those later when I have some spare time.

Just finished the first two episodes, they were ok. A bit slow paced, and with some weird parts (The New republic is just completely incapable of transporting prisoners successfully), but a decent start. I don't give a crap about the Rebels characters so the plot really only grabs me for Thrawn, so hopefully it doesn't take until the end of the season to get him.

I will say that I completely disagree with bringing other galaxies into the Star Wars story, inter-galactic travel should not be part of Star Wars. But, I suppose once Rebels revealed that you can use the force and some weird "space between spaces" place to literally time travel anything was on the table.

I will say that its really annoying that lightsabers are basically incapable of killing people now. Seriously, first that annoying idiot Inquisitor in the Little Leia show and now Sabine survive being impaled by a lightsaber, Qui-Gon was a real wimp to die to literally the exact same wound. Also, Sabine better not be force sensitive, she definitely wasn't in the show and its just ridiculous to add that in on this point.

Anyway, hopefully the show picks up the pace a bit from here, and it gets to Thrawn stuff quickly.

Boy, it's really a hang up that the Force can't possibly be with Sabine and she can't possibly train as a Jedi. Posting again:
Kanan doesn't think she can be trained to use the Darksaber properly, leading to this exchange with Hera:

Hera: "Or maybe because she doesn't have the Force, you don't believe she can do this?"
Kanan: "No. The Force resides in all living things. But you have to be open to it. Sabine is blocked. Her mind is conflicted. She's so expressive and yet so tightly wound. She's so..."
Hera: "Mandalorian."

There was a point in time, before he started the prequels and invented minichlorians, that George said anyone could use the force if they trained. He compared it to a muscle IIRC.

Qui-Gon was a real wimp to die to literally the exact same wound.
No, the wound was not in the same place, and Qui-Gon suffered a head wound/probably a concussion, and did not receive immediate care due to Obi-Wan needing to fight Maul.

Well I call them plasters. Not band aids. That’s an American expression

I was in a play here in Albuquerque earlier this year, that takes place in Hull (and Paris). The lead female character makes reference to needing plasters for her feet. I had to finally ask for that to be explained to me. The actress, who is actually from the Hull area had a good laugh at that.

If we want to apply Star Trek style technobabble to Star Wars, maybe training and becoming more one with the Force (I dunno, aligning your brainwave frequency, or something, with the quantum resonance of midichlorians) allows for more midichlorians to concentrate within a body and increase ones force sensitivity over time. It's not that outrageous that perhaps Sabine will acquire the ability to wield the Force with training, and the reason the original Jedi Order didn't do this sort of thing was because of their belief that Jedi must be trained from baby time. Maybe one regular person who became Force sensitive over time led a revolution of super soldiers and afterwards there was a blanket ban on genetic engineering, er, Force training normies.

Soooo... literally no one would like to speculate as to when, or even whether, Ahsoka will bother to give Luke and Leia a heads-up about these new Dark Side users suddenly popping up? :p

Dayum! You are hard core!

No.

Ahsoka, like Anakin, is singularly focused and on a mission. She already told Luke she has a mission to attend to.

And quite possibly briefed him on it extensively off-screen. Luke may be fairly well aware of everything she's up to. His prior association with the Rebellion would also infer that he knows Hera Syndula as a former superior officer.

I'm guessing you're precise in your language all the time. Never mind that bandages are not made from plaster. Curious, isn't it?
Sticking plaster :

It means a sticky bandage, from the Latin “emplastrum”, meaning “plaster” or “bandage”.

Some nice work there.

I suppose it is possible that the temples on Yavin were related to what became the Witches of Dathomir. Old EU had those as Sith temples, so that could track.

In Attack of the Clones we saw that the Star Wars Galaxy has a small number of satellite galaxies around it. This place Thrawn is at could be ones of those farther out ones no one goes to regularly. I get the feeling that is also where the ship in Skeleton Crew is going to be lost, so we get to explore it a bit after we get a taste of it in Ahsoka.

A hyperspace ring for a Star Destroyer? That's new but reasonable. Imperial Star Destroyers were probably not designed for that sort of travel, and Thrawn's has been away from Imperial space for over a decade now, and even in the old EU, those ships were only supposed to be capable of six years between resupply and probably refit.

I am going to guess that episode five will be the big flashback episode with Anakin and Ahsoka. Not only to mirror whatever it is Ahsoka needs to overcome, but also her relationship with Sabine as her padawan. Perhaps whatever that epiphany is allows Ahsoka to see Anakin's force ghost.

As for Sabine's lothcat, she's like the most famous person on Lothal. She has to have some friends who would come and take care of it. Though given what we have seen of Lothcats, it can probably take care of itself.

Thank you. It still doesn't change my point that current bandages are not made from plaster, technically inaccurate. Like calling a person trained as a Jedi a "Jedi Knight" even though they were not fully trained. The tendency to be very broad in our use of words is very human.

And quite possibly briefed him on it extensively off-screen. Luke may be fairly well aware of everything she's up to.
He may be, but if they can take a whole episode of the Boba Fett series to show what Luke and Grogu are up to, you'd think they could find a mere ten seconds of an Ahsoka episode to have Ahsoka mention to Sabine that she's briefed Luke and Leia on what she's been up to. Just in case, y'know, she's killed during her mission, so they wouldn't have to start from scratch if they had been kept in the dark.

Or, is Ahsoka the character aware of her Filoni-built plot armor? :p

Personally I loved it.
- Sabine is adorable, but she's also a complicated character. I think Natasha Liu Bordizzo does a great job portraying the youthfulness of Sabine.
In Rebels her ability to use the force is left kinda vague, with Kanan strongly hinting that she's force sensitive but "blocked". Huyang states that her ability to use the force is very low, which jibes with Rebels.
Also, with Sabine and Ahsoka being "Jedi, without the bureaucracy" suggests that her goals strongly differ from Luke rebuilding the order. Her use of a padawan is about training the both of them for the job at hand.
- i'm not sold on Hera, she's good but I like the soft accent of her animated counterpart.
- Chopper is a charmingly annoying asshole. I love him.

I don't really see the big deal in NR prisoner ships being trashed, we're only seeing the times the bad guys win because otherwise that would make for boring entertainment, right?

I give it a 8/10 for the first 2.
Excited for more!

Six ISD-Class hyperdrive cores mounted into a hyperdrive ring. Will they use another ISD? Seems to be overkill for what's planned. A light or heavy cruiser would IMO be a better option, you can have enough room for support personnel, fighters and shuttles but you don't need a 20,000 person crew to turn on the lights.

To be honest, I was interested. It's something I've said all my life (I'm English) and it was one of those things you never question - why is a cloud called a cloud ?

Anyhow, I was interested enough to look it up.

:)
I appreciate you doing so. Usually I am going to do the etymology dive in to it, but didn't on this one. Thanks for sharing your research.
