Spoilers Ah, the NEW uniforms...!

https://www.cygnus-x1.net/links/lcars/sc-DSC3-11.php

I haven’t seen the episode yet but I did look at the screencaps. So there are two ‘intermediate’ uniforms, but why is the one officer is wearing a TNG commbadge? Is that supposed to be a uniform that existed between the TMP movie uniforms and the TNG season 1 uniforms?
Are you sure I cant see it anywhere in the pictures?
I do love the intermediate badge we see here and earlier on Tal

Edit: I was looking at the grey guys but now I see. Could be a holo glitch or maybe the 31st century Kelpian database has some info wrong about 23rd century

Honestly, I think I like this uniform better than the main Disco style. Doesn’t have that fussy-ass asymmetrical collar. Definitely a step up, IMO.

I haven’t seen the episode yet so I don’t know if the dialogue makes it clear what era that uniform is supposed to be from. But there are only three options in-universe:

1. A previously unknown intermediate uniform from between the TMP movie monster maroons and the TNG season 1 uniforms,

2. A future uniform where the TNG commbadge came back into vogue, or

3. A glitch in the holoprogram.

I’m inclined to think it’s option #2, mainly because they could have easily reused Yor’s uniform if they wanted to show someone from the pre-TNG era. The fact that they went out of their way to design a completely different uniform that we’ve never seen before makes me think that they’re really trying to show the passage of time for Starfleet between the 25th century and the 32nd. But the use of a TNG commbadge seems to be just a snafu on the art department’s part.

Well the early DS9/Generations/Voyager unis started life as cadet uniforms in the Next Gen episode "Allegiance" so I guess there's a precedent:lol:

IMO, the v2 version of that's ("The Game", "The First Duty", "Journey's End", "In the Flesh (VOY)") is better than the standard VOY uniforms. Not as fond of the fit of the 2370s Cadet Service Uniform (first seen in Homefront), but the variant Field Training (?) uniform seen in Valiant was a step back in the right direction, and IMO slightly better as a working uniform that the standard one of the era due to the leg pockets.
