Spoilers Ah, the NEW uniforms...!

Me too. There's just some kind of inherent fussiness over asymmetrical uniforms that I fell just doesn't look right. Granted, the "Monster Maroons" could arguably be considered asymmetrical, due to the overlapping tunic flap, but at least they look like they were measured and cut correctly. I always found the DSC collars unnecessarily distracting, and now we have the lower edges of the new uniforms (also appear to be tunic tops) that don't seem to match up flush with each other. It looks like the people putting together the uniforms mis-measured all the actors' torso lengths! Every time I see this I whisper, "why"?

Having the Neck Badge Rank Indicator & Symmetrical Epaulettes seem redundant, you only need one set IMO and Gershon should've gone with Symmetrical Shoulder Epaulettes only since that hasn't been done to my knowledge.

The closest thing would be the Monster Maroons, but that had only one shoulder, and it was the clasp for the Tunic.
So those were weird in that the rank markings were off center, canted at an angle.

they look like the wearer started buttoning the jacket on the wrong hole, realized their mistake but said "Screw it" and kept going. I like the uniforms apart from this. There are fashion items from the past like extremely pointy shoes and fashion items from now like neckties that never made much sense to me either.

Fashion as a general rule never made sense to me. I look at fashion and just shake my head and then cry because people get paid way more money than I to come up with fashion.

I mean, it's a jumpsuit. It can't get more practical than that. As a costume piece it barely qualifies. The one plus is that it looked really good as a jumpsuit, which is a credit to the costumer designer. But, then, I'm always a sucker for a jumpsuit in an SF property. *dreams in Seaquest DSV*

They just don’t look either comfortable or practical.
I imagine that in a temperature controlled environment like aboard ship you don’t need heavy woolen uniforms.
Also the multiple rank signifiers smack a little of banana republic aesthetic.
