Some stuff I agree with; his assessment of Scott's protrayal of Archer, and sadly, Jolene's portrayal of T'Pol (at least until parts of season 3 and most of season 4), his laying most of the blame for Ent's overall lack of love and respect from fans at the feet of the Beebs is right on too. But I laughed out loud at his declaration that Hoshi was better looking and Park was the show's real sex symbol. Maybe, if it had been Grace instead of Linda Park.
But his assessment of ANIS generally is unassailable from my recollection, though for me it was not horrible, just forgettable, as was much of season 2.

ST Intergalactic, no you're not. A lot of people like it, including those who accept nominations for the Hugo award and around 6 million other viewers who tuned in for this episode (the largest ratings Ent ever received other than the first episode two-parter).
I thought the show was light-hearted and fun. I liked it. It's probably in my top 20 as well.

They probably nominated it because of the skin, because it certainly wasn't for the plot or the quality of writing.

I'm sure Harlan Ellison (he wrote City on the Edge of Forever) got nominated and won for a Hugo because there was skin involved, too.

And I hate to say it, but the '60s were most definitely a different time. Let's look at some other awards that are being handed out these days, shall we? Let's see, they gave Al Gore a Nobel Peace Prize because he did a movie that's full of misinformation and mistruths, because the current political climate is in support of human-caused global warming. So anyone else who actually helped some actual people or did something in furtherance of peace got passed over in favor of Al Gore and his movie. Speaking of movies, how about those Oscars, and how all kinds of good movies get passed over for nomination in favor of pretty much whatever came out in the few months before the actual awards ceremony?

Crap is opinion. Nominations and ratings are fact. Ratings went down after Marauders. Some folks on this board claim that's because of a two-week flash back from ANIS. I don't really buy that, but you could always use that theory.

Are you claiming that the idea of killing a peacenik (Edith) was pro military and that we would never have a story like that today? (Season 3.) Or are you saying a good old fashioned love story (with some alternate universe tossed in there) isn't something done? (Twilight.)

We had commercials with Native Americans crying over litter, Earth Day launched, lines for expensive gas (at the time) and an unending war that people were pretty sick of. Sounds about like the 60s are coming full circle to me.

Do I really need to remind you of the argument we got into over the ratings about this time last year? Someone actually posted up a chart and anyone could clearly see that all those people you tout as tuning in to see ANiS as some kind of measure of its quality failed to tune in the next week. Plenty of other people also reminded everyone that the ad they used on UPN for the episode basically used the clip of a topless T'Pol in Archer's wet dream so they could try to draw people in, and it worked. The problem was, they all saw how horrible that episode that was and didn't even bother to tune in the next week.

You;re the one who brought it up, or did you already forget how you compared ANiS to City on the Edge of Forever because you said both won Hugo awards.
Don't put words into my mouth. I know you have a tendency to see things that aren't there, but this bit literally came out of thin air. My statement reflected how so many of these awards that used to actually mean something haves ceased to be relevant.
This guy nailed it as to why I don't love this episode: Archer was a grade-A dumbass to take his dog on the planet of a species that he knew would get butthurt over any little thing. And being a beagle owner myself, that is the absolute last breed that belongs confined on a ship, but I'll refrain from getting into that wank. The Kretassans would have no reason to know fuck shit about an animal species they didn't know anything about. Point is, if you pissed off this species just for following your own customs on your own ship, is it not common sense to do everything to keep it from happening again--including leaving your very wired and sniff-happy breed of dog on the ship? Y/N
