Agents of SHIELD: Season 3 - Discussion (SPOILERS LIKELY)

I wouldn't mind seeing Talbot show up in the movies chasing the Hulk. I know, I know, I just said we shouldn't expect to see anything originating in the movies turn up in the show, but I was talking about important story points. Talbot is a character from the comics, and it would be easy enough to reintroduce him as a movie character in his traditional Hulk-chasing role without any need to reference his history in AoS. So that's the kind of show-to-movie transfer that could be done, if the movie people were willing.

I don't mind Bobbi in the lab. We really didn't learn much about her background last season, so there's really nothing to rule it out. Unless you think people with science degrees can't kick ass, or just have some unreasonable grudge against her you can't get over.

Neither. I just like Mockingbird Bobbie more than Lab Tech Bobbie. I want her leg to heal so she can be out in the field again. 'Scuse me for having a preference.

Woah, sorry there. The first one was just a general, sarcastic statement geared towards no one in particular, and the second was geared towards Kirk55555.

Hmm, well if I find someone with an unreasonable grudge against Mockingbird, I'll see if they agree with me that she's about as much a scientist as Fitz is a hand to hand combat expert ;)

Well, the rest of the team on the show doesn't have an issue with her, and nobody else on the boards seems to have much of a problem with her.....

Just for fun, I would like to see Fitz build that combination shotgun/ax for Mack.

Well, it was a cute moment when she did the ballistics gel test and scared the piss out of everybody in the lab...

Didn't she do some lab work last season? I could have sworn she did something science-y already...

Think you meant that the other way around.

Well there is the general ideal of Inhumans so they don't have to origin story every character. Some people are just around us.

The Inhumans movie will probably focus on one aspect of the society. Speculating about Lash hunting Lincoln that Jaiying's band at Afterlife, even with their screening and test for terragenesis, are not seen by all Inhuman groups as worthy. It may be possible that there were cells and Gordon, Jaiying and the rest didn't know of the others who did a better job at keeping off of SHIELD/Hydra's radar.

I think it's pretty much a given that the Inhumans movie will focus on the Black Bolt, Medusa, Crystal and the rest of the Inhuman Royal Family. With the Inhumans now being such a big thing on AoS, I'm pretty sure we probably would have seen them by now if they weren't being saved for the movie.

Think you meant that the other way around.

Kevin Feige thinks that it's "inevitable" that the movies will reference the TV shows, although he only specifically mentions Daredevil.

"I think that's inevitable at some point as we're plotting the movies going forward and they're doing the shows. It's easier for them. They're more nimble and faster and produce things quicker than we do, which is one of the main reasons you see the repercussions of Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron in the show. Going forward and certainly as they begin to do more shows and cast them with such great actors as they have -- particularly Daredevil -- that that may occur. A lot of it is by the time we start doing a movie, they'd be midway through a season; by the time it comes out they'd be done with the second, starting the third season. Finding timing on that is not always easy."

Yes, right. Good catch.

I saw that. He does a good job of explaining the issues. It could be done with characters, as long as the movie plots weren't dependent on their TV backstories. I don't think it'll happen with an Infinity Stone, though, since they're too important to the movies.

Has DD ever been an Avenger?

Who hasn't been by this point?

Well... these guys, among others.

You know, I kind of wish that the Advanced Threat Containment Unit had a acronym that actually spelled something out. That should be a running joke, that every big organization in the show has an acronym that spells a real word, like SHIELD or SWORD

"I'm with ATCU."

"Gesundheit."

Remember when CBS added the "Navy" prefix to the first season of NCIS, it was said because of CSI in the line up. "CTU" anyone?

Speaking of whom, isn't it time we got introduced to some of those other people in the Playground's lab section? If Agents of SHIELD is about the "red shirts" of the MCU, we need to meet the support staff backing up our heroes.

Well, that was a very good premiere. It was nice to see the gang again, except for May. I hope she has something big coming up to compensate for being left out. I was surprised to see Coulson walking around armless so much-- although having a prosthetic didn't slow him down on the train.

Daisy and Mack make a good team. And Daisy seems to be looking hotter than usual this year. That was quite a nice little superhero battle they had at the hospital with the funny-looking man.

Poor Fitz is not dealing well. That was a cute little James Bond adventure he had in the Middle East, but I could really feel his frustration at the end. I hope he and Gemma finally get together after all this.

And it looks like we have an interplanetary adventure in store for us. Woohoo. I wonder what Gemma is running from....

The amount of regulars is as big as it is already, if the show gave every lab tech his own speaking role and background the show would do nothing else than introduce characters.

With "Red Shirts" they meant the guys in the suits and black SUVs that you see occasionally pop up besides the Avengers or Iron Man.. the guys who clean up afterwards or who provide the flashy main superhero with information they need to progress in their storyline. It's not about the even smaller guy in this big organization though they moved away from the base street level stuff from season 1 and are embracing the comic superhero genre full on.

I'm wondering if they don't want to use SWORD because they aren't up to the level of technology that SWORD uses, like a huge satellite base and spaceships?
