Do you book writer's write any screenplays? I know you've pitched and sold to the various series., or is that an entirely different medium for you (different animal) that your particular agents don't dabble in per say.

My real Q is how do you find an agent? I have a comedy and a sci-fi epic that I'm thinking of posting on inktip. Good idea?

No one knows. There are many different ways, and most writers have a different story about how they came to have their current agent. I myself went through three agents in the ’90s before I signed with my current representation in 2002.

The most common ways are to research which agents are currently seeking new clients, and then send to them a brief, one-page query letter that explains who you are, what your experience/credits are, and why you are seeking representation. If they ask you to send samples, that's good. If they never reply at all, or send a form letter rejection, that's par for the course. If they ask you to pay them a fee for consideration, that's a scam, and you should avoid them.

Most literary agents will be based in NYC, Chicago, or somewhere east of the Mississippi. Most film/TV agents will be based in Los Angeles.

Good luck.
