Spoilers Agatha All Along discussion and spoilers.

Mephisto is the Rani of the MCU!

I'm enjoying the show, but at the moment it very much feels like the characters are on rails and it almost has the vibe of a computer game about it. That might be unavoidable given they're following the Witches Road, but you'd think there'd be some room to manoeuvre, wrong turns for them to take, and perhaps that's coming.
It's a quest for sure, but that's a long held literary tradition. Each stop along the road gives then new problems to overcome and tasks to perform.

It is a good show but I do think they need a twist. They can't just unlock a mystery every week in a new house and setting IMO before it gets old. I would like to see them have to deal with some threat from within that scary Forrest area for example.

Now that they've established how things usually work on the road with the last couple episode, I wouldn't be surprised if they through some kind of twist or complication at us eventually.

They're using The Wizard of Oz as a template; as I recall, there are parts where the travelers wander off the Yellow Brick Road or are forced off of it. Something analogous may happen later in the series. (Making me wonder if we'll hear an Elton John needle drop at some point.)

They went through the second house pretty quickly and were onto other issues by the second half of the episode. I imagine the structure will continue to change with each episode.

"Why does your generation hate them so much?"

"Brooms have been co-opted by the holiday industrial complex as an absurd emblem of our culture. Worse yet, they're an obvious symbol of female domesticity."

"Annnnnnd they're basic."

Occam's Razor, it is. Not a surprise, really, but I loved the reveal nonetheless, perfectly capped with Billie Ellish's "You Should See Me in a Crown."

I was, however, surprised Alice was killed off relatively early on. But on a show where the spirits can literally appear (although we actually knew ahead of time Agatha's mom would pop up at some point), I suspect we haven't seen the last of her either. I did love Sharon's brief return, even it turned out to be Agatha mimicking her (really well, at that).

One curious thing: After the last trial, when Billy confronts Agatha, we only see Lilia and Jen emerge from the house with no Rio in sight. Not sure what that means, but everything is topsy-turvy with Agatha, Lilia, and Jen sinking in the peat moss (or was it quicksand, I couldn't tell for certain).

I'm glad they killed Alice. It helps create a sense of danger that even Sharon's death did present because we as a audience can sort of know she might have died because the actor had to go back to her other show. Not that she might not come back along with Sharon but if they do I feel like it has to come with some kind of payment. I could see Agatha dying at the end of the show. If they do a second season they can bring her back from the dead but otherwise they might as well because the character only has so much use in your other more traditional comic book adventures in the other shows and movies.

How I would do it is her death would bring back Sharon and Alice. Also BIlly becomes a full blown member and instead of going back to living bland lives they decide to help him track down his twin brother because we don't know where Tommy is. That could set up a season 2 or setup Tommy and Billy being ready for a Young Avengers movie if they make one.

I guess the theme here was 1980s teen-horror movies, particularly the subgenre that Cabin in the Woods pastiched. Although if it had been authentic to the genre, there would've been more nudity.

Interesting that the "broomstick" spell (really more just a flying branch spell) relied on pairs of people giving the sticks to one another. It's a nice idea, although I don't really see why it's specific to a flying-broomstick spell, and it didn't really have any payoff, since the flying sequence was so brief.

I didn't understand why saying the name of Agatha's son ended the trial. It's not like Teen/Billy figured anything out; he just read it off the board. So they didn't actually resolve anything. This called for more explanation.

I have to wonder, how do Wiccans feel about having the name of their religion used for a comic-book superhero, particularly a male one?

If they are smart they would love it I imagine. It's good publicity. Maybe if the show sucked it wouldn't be so great but the show is pretty good so far. Same way you just know Christians must have really loved shows like 'Touched by the Angel" back in the day.

I wonder about that too, but given how long the character's been around, I would guess that most Wiccans I've known would just shrug. There's so much worse being said about us.

Some pretty big shocks in this one.
Alice's death was the big one, I definitely didn't expect that.
And now we know who "Teen" is. Him turning on the other was a shock too, but I'm assuming there's something more going on with him.
I was a little shocked they were so quick to turn on Agatha at first, but I realized that they have pretty much just been tolerating her presence, so it wasn't quite as shocking as I thought at first.

OR, was there something wonky with this trial? I keep thinking it has to do with Agatha's mother.

Yeah, at first I was wondering if it was some kind of dream or vision, but then it ended. So now, I'm not sure since I would have expected some bigger hint towards that before it was over.
