After the Lost Finale airs, Damon and Lindelof ....

coolghoul

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
have said that they will be in radio silence. They said that they want their work to stand for itself and will not be answering questions for at least some significant period of time. (I guess that's a hopeful sign that they will be answering all the major questions).

They did say that they will be appearing on Jimmy Kimmel after the finale airs but that it would have been taped prior to the actual finale. So I don't think they will be taking any *live* questions and answering fan questions.

This is from the LOST official Audio Podcast...

I am kinda concerned that I'm not going to have all my questions answered in a long web event or something. I think they should do that. (Kinda like JKRowling did for Harry Potter).

But I think they don't want to "out" Jack and Sawyer as being gay (like JKR did with DD! :) )

What do you think of this news?

This seems like another indicator that they are throwing us a huge curveball in the finale, if there was any doubt.

I'm kind of nervous and exited at the same time.

I'm sure I'll be clamoring for some explanation like everyone else after the finale, but I think this is a good decision on their part. Personally, a didactic post mortem by the creators would just suck all the magic out of it for me. No matter how much I might want it on first impulse.

Will be on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere.....

With Polar Bears.....

Hatches....

Random Numbers.....

Others....

The Professor & Mary Ann....

* Heh heh heh heh heh heh heh *

I think it means there will be a shit-ton of stuff not explained and they don't want to deal with the fallout!

I will stop watching Lost if they do that.

Seriously, did the writers/producers of BSG (3rd millennium version) went into radio silence too after the finale aired?

^ Stop, you! :)

My point is I generally don't like this - one of the more important part of watching Lost is all the intricacies that we kibbitzed over. Having the creators say 'see ya' is not very appealing. I want to continue to kibbitz over little itsy-bitsy things.

However - if they end it with a twist which would mean a new series - (hey, it's possible) only then would it make sense.

A new series not located on the island but the other point of interest in LOST, L.A. Their seams to be a connection now between the island and L.A. So why not have the show set their, keep their costs down by shooting somewhere inexpensive but looks like L.A. (i.e. Vancouver) and you can continue a lot of the mysteries but here.

  I'm with you! We'll show 'em!

I really don't care about this either way...I don't get into the interviews and podcasts that much, so I'm never really on the ball about if Damon & Carlton are even saying much to begin with. P.S. I think that's who you meant to say in the thread title, because Damon and Lindelof are the same person. ;)

Don't they normally do this each season? I stopped listening to the podcasts after season 4, but I remember they never did a podcast after the finale aired and they waited until Comic Con several weeks later before taking any questions on what happened in the season finale.

Yeah, like they said, they want the finale to speak for itself. I think they want the fans to have fun speculating, debating, arguing, etc. over what the events of the finale (and the entire show) mean without them stepping in and saying "well, actually, it was really like this."

I think it's a pretty mature route to take, very respectful to the fans. I know I would have a lot of trouble doing a radio silence if I just wrapped up a show like Lost. I'd want to be explaining every bit of what every little thing meant, reveal all the clues most people didn't pick up on, and generally show off how clever I was. But that would be rather obnoxious.

:alienblush:

Ooops. You're right. Should be Damon and Carlton.

I think you're right on target. I suspect that they will have a book, and some audio on an eventual DVD set, etc. They know they'd get lots of money for it, and they know people would want to buy it.

If there's one thing they've done throughout the show, is give the fans credit for being intelligent. I know they enjoy letting people debate and discuss the show. So, why take that away from us now?
