After the Ent-E?

NIUPonyBoy

Let's assume that 'old' Trek will survive. And the crew of Ent-E, the "current" Enterprise, will lead a long and fruitful mission near the ships projected service life. Something none of the previous Enterprises have been able to do. lol

Clearly by that Cpt. Picard will move on to bigger things and other crews and Captains will lead her.

What will the Enterprise -F look like?

I realize we saw a small 'glimpse' of the 29th Century Enterprise-J (which I would have liked to see more of) in ENT, but what is the future of the flagship?

Just curious, I fully realize that there may be no idea and just fan based renderings but I am curious. :)

Eh whatever, they liked the time-travel stuff a little too much and I couldn't keep track.

So the the J is from the 25th?

We have the D and the E at the very end of the 24th century. So that means the E, F, G, H and I have very short lives if the J is a creation of the 25th Century.

I really hate the idea of a new Enterprise every 10 or 20 years. Personally, I think the Enterprise-E will be around for a very long time--well into the mid 25th-Century--and that she will have had several different captains and crews during her time in service...Picard was simply the first to command her.

Maybe Starfleet will even decide to give the Enterprise name a brief rest after the Enterprise-E and won't even start building the Enterprise-F until very late in the 25th-Century.

But the less said about that overgrown, temporally-displaced pizza cutter from that potential future in ENT, the better, IMO...

Yeah, that was one weird ass ship from what I could see from screw shots.

Did the J even have DS9 doors? lol

Enterprise - J is from the 26th century.

Enterprise - F will be a SuperFanboyDreadnaught Class. Have 50,000 phaser banks, 20,000 torpedo launnchers and will be slightly bigger than the state of Rhode Island.

Only slightly?

Wonder how the fuck they went through that many Enterprises?

Then just uhm... call the next one "USS Enterprise-THE LAST FREAKING ONE! SERIOUSLY GUYS DON'T BLOW THIS THING UP!"

I think they should simply stop with the silly suffixes. Just call it the Enterprise. You don't even have to put the registry number on the hull; there's only one Enterprise in service at a time, just as there is one Akira and one Defiant etc.

Naval vessels of today have their name and registry number painted on the hull, I don't see why that should really stop. Although I will say that besides a building used for training, we've had 6 USS Enterprise in the American navies. 2 in the Continental navy, and 4 in the US Navy. None of them have a bloody A, B, C, or D.

Just found this while poking around Wikipedia, thought it was interesting.

The name is an acknowledgement to the USS Enterprise from the Star Trek television series.[4]

I think the NCC-1701-Z should be the last vessel to honor Kirk's ship, but I wouldn't be surprised if the tradition was stopped long before they reached that point, and they simply christen a new Enterprise with a new hull registry (like NCG-47, just to throw out an example of what I mean).

I agree, the alphabet soup is starting to get silly when the Enterprise-J was thrown in there.
The name Enterprise should be enough. The US Navy went from CV-6 on the World War 2 aircraft carrier(I think) to CVN-65 on the current nuclear aircraft carrier. Just drop the 1701 already or if you need to have it how about ncc-170100?

As for the Enterprise-J, since the timeline has been screwed with so much it might not even exist anymore.

Id imagine its gonna stay being Enterprise E for a while, unless the Federation gets involved in a huge war and the Sovereign class ship is destroyed.

Given the tech involved with the -E, its not gonna be obsolete for a loooooong time.
