After PREDATOR, is ALIEN next on the reboot train?

If this PREDATOR reboot is a hit (or even moderate success) is ALIEN next for a reboot? I'm afraid to even ask, but it has been on my mind for a cupple of days!

There's going to be a Predator reboot?

Anything to get those two franchises separated again.

Could we keep Alien and Aliens, but throw out the later ones? Like Superman Returns, except good.

Please stop the reboot train.

It should be blown up, WWII partisans style.

With it's first 2 movies, and to some but lesser extent the 3rd, the Alien franchise has already achieved almost perfect execution of it's premise. If it must continue I think the money would be better spent on simply telling more stories in the established universe and trying not to make the same mistakes that the franchise fell into in later years.

I'm sure that the right kind of visionary could bring a new flavour to the idea, and the right team of director, producer, designers and effects people could possibly rival the work of Scott, Giger and Cameron. But history tells us that it almost certainly won't happen like that and that we will more likely get a derivative remake that fails to live up to it's predecessors, and with such a breathtakingly well realised concept already out there, why bother.

That said, i'm never against good movies being made, regardless of whether they are remakes or reboots or whatever. I'm just not holding my breath.

You know, I knew this would be one of the first comments. Honestly, A3 was a great end to the story and RES was an alright attempt at starting a new story in the Alienverse. Why do THEY have to be the ones erased? Why not just restart the whole damn thing?

I love ALL of the Alien films. If they make a new one, hire Ridley or Cameron and keep it in-continuity. I don't want the xenomorph reimagined.

Keep the first three. Resurrection wasn't very good.

Personally I'd settle for Alien V, wrapping up the story for good.

Directed by Peter Jackson.

Alien and Aliens are both timeless classics. Personally, I liked Alien 3, however it felt unfinished and a little rough around the edges thanks to it's difficult production period and hacked-up theatrical release. Resurrection was OK, but seemed like a pointless continuation of the franchise by bringing back Ripley in a rather interesting but convoluted way.

While I said in another thread that a reboot after Aliens with Sigourney Weaver was the best solution, I'm wondering why a new movie can't be made that simply stars a new character. It was the decision to bring Ripley back that made Resurrection so daft. I like the character, but her story is done.

If by reboot, you mean casting a new Ripley, I say no way in hell; And if your using a whole new set of characters, what's the sense of rebooting? I don't even understand why Predator needs a reboot, Just make a good Predator film. How hard can it be? It's been done once or twice already; Definitely once. The only reason to consider rebooting is if they're planning on making the Predators fundamentally different from what we've already seen. And after the latest track record of Newborns and Predalieoolios, that thought scares me more than anything.
