Aerial View of Possible Star Trek Sets in L.A.

Found this on YouTube this evening and thought I'd share. All I can say is looks interesting. I'm going to venture a guess as that the snow set is possibly Rigel and the second set is a Vulcan exterior? Just mere speculation, of course. ;)

Dude that isn't from Trek XI, it's "from the new Star Track movie."

In all seriousness though, that's pretty sweet! I'm still boycotting though because JJ Abrams raped my pre-childhood!!1!11one!

The ice set looks like... Rura Penthe.

The other set, the brown metal, it reminds me of something Klingon, but why it would be outdoors... *shrug*

I think you can see the ENTERPRISE model outside! Stop the footage at 18 seconds. Look in the upper left corner, very back. Tell me that's not a saucer and two nacelle's I see! It zooms in at 21 seconds and I can almost sweat that's the model!

Why would it be outside, though? And it looks a bit rusty.

(I agree, that's what it looks like... it just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.)

I have never been one to do the whole "screen grab analysis" thing, but I totally see it, too! That really does look like an Enterprise model! Could it... be?

I don't see an Enterprise model there. And what would you need an FX model on location for anyway?

Could somebody who sees it put up a screen grab with with a circle around the ship, please? I watched it as slowly as youtube would allow me, and I still couldn't see it.

You can almost SWEAT that's the model? You shouldn't get so excited. It's only a movie.

Personally, I'm pretty sure if you stop the playback at 27.892 seconds, there's a single frame of Ricardo Montalban as Michael Jackson, but in a kangaroo costume. Named "Tim".

It's a time travel movie. Alternate time line crash scene?

What does an alternate time line have to do with it? A crash scene is a crash scene is a special effects shot. It would just be weird to shoot any of that on location.

Hey, who really knows what Abrams is up to? Perhaps he's decided to shoot a forced perspective crash scene or something and they're setting up the area for later use. Or perhaps daddy Kirk built a small-scale starship jungle gym for little Jimmy to play on.

The point is, wild speculation is just that. Speculation. And frankly, I'm old school. I still think tangible, real plastic and balsa wood models are a hell of a lot better than CGI.

Well, I've been saying for the past year-plus that we'd see young Jimmy Kirk's reaction to the death of his father, George. Now we hear them talking about a "young child" being led off the set, and what looks like a crash scene... hmmmm...

Another sad case of a child getting the keys to their parents' car, with disasterous results? :p
