Advice, please!

Fleet Captain
What do you do if someone is pursuing a vendetta against you?

If had it done three or four times in my life. The reason was, I called the people involved, 'scum'. Judging by what I have been told by other people, they were, considering what they said and did to me.

It seems to provoke them into paroxyms of vindicativeness and sadism. Some of them have even done it to the extent that I can't even have friends or aquaintances and relationships, and all this is justified, cos in the persector's eyes, I am unsociable, basically cos I do not like them.

The vindictiveness and sadism of some people is amazing, towards people who have no-one behind them, but who are out for everybody and those who are doing it care about very little but themselves and their own circle, which is very small.

Do you feel guilty and let them do it to you?

The thing I've also noticed is, if you bring it to other people's attention, what the abuser is doing, they stop, for a while, and try to make you feel like you are a trouble causer, a whiner, and make you feel guilty. Then, they start all over again!

I generally prefer to dump the bodies in the forest, but sometimes it just isn't possible. The most important thing is to be able to think on your feet; also to be handy with a hacksaw.

If you call someone "scum", you should be prepared for that person to be pretty upset with you. While it's not a curse word, it's a very strong sentiment. I know if someone called me that, I'd be enraged. You're basically calling them the lowest of the low.

As for what I'd do in your scenario, quite simply I'd try to avoid dealing with that person. If you truly feel they're scum, why are you around them anyway? If it's someone you work with, live near, or are related to, and thus can't avoid, well, you should have thought of that before you insulted them.

The first time I did it, was when someone insulted my parents, cos we had moved into a good estate, from social housing, and he hinted that everyone else on that estate had real money, and we had just scraped in and shouldn't really be there. I'm still paying for that, thirty years later, though mainly cos he encouraged me to be self destructive, and encouraged me to chase after a girl who couldn't stand me, which nearly killed me.

The second time I did it would have given someone without Tourettes difficulty in not saying the S word!

Anyway, as Robert said, get out of there.

You can't control how people will respond to you. The best you can do is control the controllables, do the best you can yourself, and let other people think or do as they see fit. If they have a problem with you, it's none of your business.

The key thing here is to hold your ground. Never, EVER leave your hometown, not even to visit someone. Spend as much time around these people as possible just to show them you're not phased. It's bound to work.

Offer them the sum of 35,000.
