Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS version]

Re: Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS vers

My favorite part of his "Nemesis" review:

I've also had it with the force shield that protects the Enterprise. The power on this thing is always going down. In movie after movie after movie I have to sit through sequences during which the captain is tersely informed that the front shield is down to 60 percent, or the back shield is down to 10 percent, or the side shield is leaking energy, and the captain tersely orders that power be shifted from the back to the sides or all put in the front, or whatever, and I'm thinking, life is too short to sit through 10 movies in which the power is shifted around on these shields.

To be fair that was not just a criticism of Nemesis he made but of all 10 movies.

I also remember Ebert complaining about the reference to a "positronic signal" as being insider, technobabble Trek jargon, which irritated me since it's obviously not Trek-speak, it's Issac Asimov!

Re: Advance screening/World Premiere discussions [the NO-SPOILERS vers

Well, this afternoon I went to our local theater and I did see lots of Star Trek XI signs there, so that's good. The ticket vendor said the movie would be there this May 8th. As for reserving tickets, if we can it would be this coming Monday and only in person, so it looks like I'll be making a trip back up there this Monday. I am guaranteeing that I will have two tickets for opening night or so help me God I will knock nuns, little old ladies and girl scouts out of my way to reach the ticket counter before they sell out!

Dude B&W avatar coolness! :)

Thank you!
I was going to do it in color, but when I got it done everything looked too "busy", so I thought black and white would be just right. :D

Have we gotten any reaction from other members of the Trek family regarding what they thought about the movie yet? Takei? Frakes?

I would love to hear their opinions on the movie, particularly Jonathan Frakes, since he has directed several movies.

I can't tell whether he liked it or not. Can someone dumb it down please? Or repeat it? Loudly? And in glaring letters?

:D

I couldn't help it, I had to just grind that into my brain. I appreciate the assistance!

J.
J, I'm assuming you might not know who Tim Bisley is.

He's a long time fan who was very disappointed with ST:TPM, so much so he cremated all his SW merchandise in his backyard, and couldn't speak of it for years. So his positive review is... heartening

Do a search on "North London Science Fiction Review", you should find his website. :D
