ADM Hanson: "The Klingons are sending warships"

JTV just released his Wolf 359 battle Part 1. He chose not to include any Klingon ships in 'it thus far. It's a well edited video though and entirely plausible. Although I don't care for his interpretation of Admiral Hanson being stubborn and getting the fleet destroyed. Take a look.

This work is very good. But I still don't see Locutus making use of Picard's "knowledge and experience."

It seems the Borg simply had stronger weapons and shields. Starfleet is hopelessly outmatched.

Problem isn't greater firepower, it's just that the Borg cube can adapt to any weapons thrown at it. If you're effectively throwing marshmallows at your enemy while he's firing bullets at you... well we know who's going to win!

The tear falling as Picard is forced to destroy his old friend's ship implies they are tapped into Picard's mind to some extent but as Oddish noted they don't really need that knowledge. Starfleet at this point in time was just overpowered despite Q giving them a bit of a heads up the prior year.

I guess I'm saying that if some distance or timeframe somehow ruins an episode, perhaps because the writer wasn't fully aware of Trek space travel capabilities, I can forgive it.... maybe.
Having an established maximum speed and the time it takes to travel certain distances makes sense but it can also be limiting. Perhaps those limitations and cabapilities of space travel should almost be taken episode by episode.
If something in a previous episode contradicts the next one, that's not fun but should one ignore it if the episode is great?
Speeds and distances shouldn't be too precise, too much details can hurt storytelling but having somekind of established guideline makes sense.
Even if I don't make much sense with this post.... =)

I guess Star Wars might be a good example where ships can travel massive distances in no time. Star Trek is better with that.

Exactly this! :techman: I think the whole thing can be resolved by the number of times throughout various series where a 2-3 minute commercial break returns with a voice-over such as, "Captain's Log, supplemental: we've been in orbit for four days and now..." or "Captain's Log, supplemental: after 72 hours, we've reached System ABC..." sort of thing. There's a ton of interstitial time between the 'fun stuff' that we're not privy to (obviously), which gives the writers a lot of freedom in terms of in-universe vs. on-our-TV-screen times. At least, I personally think the writers have an escape hatch on that one.

Except there's no point in including time references unless they're specifically relevant to the story. If it's "We have to deliver the medicine in 2 days or people will die" or "We haven't heard from the captain in 12 hours, better send out a search party" or "It's 19 hours away at maximum warp, we can't possibly make it there in time!," then it's worth mentioning. Otherwise it's just a distraction.

And it's often better to avoid specifics about things like distances, speeds, and travel times, rather than pin things down in a way that could restrict future storytelling.
