Ship-to-Ship? Two different technologies, but I'd say Sisko simply due to shields.

In a battle of wills? Adama.

Adama is willing to go so much further than Sisko. Execution, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Genocide. Sisko would have a breaking point where he could not pass. Adama doesn't.

Adama would have made a great villain on Star Trek. He's got the nice guy undertones and we can relate to him, but he's insane and willing to go to any lengths, no matter how evil they end up being, in trying to achieve his goals.

The Federations technology is hundreds of years ahead of The Colonials. The Defiant has shields, a cloaking device, superior handling, and superior weapons and weapon systems. They could destroy The Galactica with one photon torpedo. The Galactica is basically just a US Aircraft carrier with gravity tech and light speed. Strictly IMO though.

The Galactica, probably.

Against the Pegasus the Defiant would be face down in the gutter, unconscious, raped and bleeding.

I don't particularly care for either of them. But Adama annoyed the hell out of me and the actor seems like a pig. My vote goes to Sisko simply because he's the lesser evil.

(Original) Adama vs. Sisko --- I'd say just about even. Sisko's youth may be the only thing pushing him ahead, and that's only if we go by the versions shown on screen; not if we compare Adama at the same age as Sisko is.

Adama was being kicked out of his own military. Taking a retired ship on its last ride to retirement. He had surrounded himself with old friends that would do much of the work while he played with his ship in the bottle back in his room.He was only a viper pilot in the last war so spent his whole career in peace time not doing much.

Sisko was placed in a high profile position by his military. In charge of an alien space station right on the border with enemies of the Federation. He was given an entirely new crew and had to work in members of a very wary species the Bajorans.He had survived a major battle with the Borg.
