Adama vs. Sisko

Boy, that would be a battle for the ages.

I wouldn't even guess as to who would win. Both willing to make the tough choices and great leaders. So awesome!

Sisko one of the best Captains Star Trek ever had, wise, cunning , athetlic, great at hand to hand, helped defeat a vastly superior alliance of technologically advanced aliens. Finally becomes a wormhole God or something

Adama Captain of a loser species, old, sulking, depressed and overweight. Owns a junk ship, spends a chunk of season1 being bossed around by a school teacher. Spends S2 being bossed around by Cainette. Ran away during the New Caprica attack leaving the Cylons to dominate the humans Iraqtica style. Came back to save the humans almost and got killed until Fatboy shows up and kamikazes the Peggy into the Cylon basestar. Adama Way too emo angsty like a mentally disturbed teenager. Thinks he started the war, often thinks humanity is not worthy of survival. Minus the jump drive the species has no advanced technology whatsoever, most of the tech looks like it comes from the 40s or something. Finally goes native and poops with the bear in the woods.

Whatever man, I might be a Sisko fan but I will not be caught badmouthing Adama. He is a great leader!

Isn't that the true test? To be placed in such a tough position with such limited resources and still come out victorious? (survival of the human race is without a doubt victory in the BSG universe.

As long as Adama still has that flashlight he will come out on top.

Unless it's late season 4, drunken, crybaby Adama.

Tough choice, they don't call The Sisko for nothing, but I'd have to say ol' Bill Adama

Sisko's half-God, Adama was pretty much just a mediocre Commander who lasted as long as he did because all the really good dudes were all wiped out (this goes for most of the military and politicians in nuBSG, really).

Sisko takes it.

In a fistfight? Sisko.

In a space battle? Tougher call, but I say Adama rolls the harder six.

The Federations technology is hundreds of years ahead of The Colonials. The Defiant has shields, a cloaking device, superior handling, and superior weapons and weapon systems. They could destroy The Galactica with one photon torpedo. The Galactica is basically just a US Aircraft carrier with gravity tech and light speed. Strictly IMO though.

Exactly. Sisko is a freedom fighter, a leader, a warrior, and a mystic. Adama is a tyrant, a thug, a dictator, and a Nazi. Boomer needed to learn how to use the god damn sights. If Sisko were real he'd be George Washington or Joshua. If Adama were real he'd be Fransico Franco.

What about their younglings?

Lee vs Jake

Lee would have him anyday (he'd flatten him during his Pegasus days)

Well I was just going off their respective leadership styles, experience, ability, and bad-assery, and assuming all other things are equal, including equivalent tech at their disposal.

However, Starfleet would certainly tromp all over the Colonials. ;)

WAK! wakwakwak! :klingon:

Sisko = Douglas MacArthur - egomanical, self-assured, prone to disobedience, a law unto himself

Adama = Ulysses S. Grant - despite plentiful personal demons, a great and inspiring natural military leader (and should stay far away from politics)

Did Adama really show a lot in terms of ability and bad-assery? I always got the feeling he was the best out of what was left after the nuking of the colonies wiped out the rest of the Colonial Forces. As in, beggars couldn't be choosers.

And I'd say you got those two mixed up, Sisko is Grant while Adama is MacArthur. Though they both had their "I shall return" moments (leaving DS9 at the end of S5 and leaving New Caprica).

Adama was a militaristic megalomaniac who only put up with democracy as a favor to his woman. His solution to every problem was to threaten to jail or kill people. He started 3 civil wars because the only person he'll take orders from is his chick. Like I said, Nazi thug. I take it back. He's not Franco. He's fucking Ceasar.

If put on an even playing field, the question largely comes down to "With or without crews?"

Adama was an idiot who had a lot of smart people around him. Sisko was a genius who was surrounded by fools.

With crews, Adama by a nose. Sisko in all other cases. Sisko wasn't essentially put in charge of the entire Dominion War for just nothing. Try as I might, I can't imagine anyone ever pulling out that chair for Adama.

Sisko I feel is a better leader. He didn't need to jail people or threaten them to get them to follow him, and its not like he had an easy job to do either.

I often wondered what Avery Brooks would have been like had he been cast as Adama.
