Actor Noel Clarke accused of harrassment

Big Finish have just cancelled this months' Torchwood release, which had been highly anticipated for reuniting Barrowman with Tennant and have stated they have no plans to reschedule it.

As i said already exposing yourself in public is a criminal offence here in the UK and has never been acceptable in any work place or in public regardless if the offence is being committed by a celeb or not, and was so before and after the BBC practices were made public, so the questions are did he expose himself to women and men at the BBC, yes, was there a culture at the BBC that fostered this kind of behaviour, yes,......was there a culture of fear for anyone who spoke up about this kind of behaviour at the BBC, yes.......was the BBC response to this behavior guided by the culture at the BBC at the time........................that one you will have to make your own mind up over.

Actually it isn't illegal unless you intend for someone to see you and be caused harm and distress.

I think it's a reach to think that about JB but it's not impossible.

Well as hysterical overreactions go it's certainly up there.

Of course we don't know if this is their decision or forced on them by the BBC.

You'll note the he makes sure to say that it was all intended in good fun in his apologies; presumably on the advice of his lawyer. (Gareth David-Lloyd used the same form of wording when defending him.)

Has anyone at the BBC acknowledged their role in ignoring/not holding Barrowman properly accountable for his actions? As with Noel Clarke, John Barrowman should be held accountable and punished for what they did but they were allowed to get away with it and while Barrowman is more an open secret, there needs to be open communication that you can report something and not have to be afraid that something won’t be done or won’t effect your career

Its not my concern to think of future projects that are now cancelled because of past behavior. However, if these things were handled in the right way then we could move on and wouldn’t be things cancelled years later. Its always going to be awkward and look bad

Girls and women are so often NOT believed that I think the default should change to believing them given statistics about male harassment and violence.

Well, that sucks.

I'm sorry, but I don't see the point in punishing someone for something that happened over a decade ago, and that he has already stopped and apologized for doing.

I'm not even saying that what Barrowman did on set was/is comparable to most of these situations and I do understand what you mean but it can't be a blanket statement of 'well it happened a long time ago and he apologized so its fine.' If that was a good defense, then people that have done way worse would still be walking free and not in jail let alone losing a few jobs and a damaged rep.

Anyway, my whole point of my original post was that Barrowman should have been punished a long time ago for this and he wasn't,

So he's being punished right now does that make it better?

I guess I'm being misunderstood here. What Barrowman did was wrong. I think we all agree on that. He should have been punished. He wasn't. I don't feel bad for him that he is being punished now (especially since its a minor thing and he's already had a fine career.) The BBC just deciding to take action after the media exposes it again when they could have done something is not right and they get no praise from me on that.

Seems the last point is being ignored.

Hasn't it come out that the BBC did reprimand him in 2008, what extra punishment should he have received at the time?
