Absolute Anger! 10TH FC Tardis Frustration!

I finally have the funds to invest in some much desired Doctor who collectibles..

and after doing online reviews, I have come to the realisatio0n that the Underground toys 10TH Doctor's Flight control Tardis is the best version ever produced.

any of the classic toys are without the light up interior options and in some strange manner "have no inside insert to depict the Tardis" which is accurate to the prop, but defeats the purpose, since it is after all a toy and should have an insert which shows the inside of the classic Tardis..

that aside, as I am frustrated.. every store online that is for USA consumption, including amazon and ebay, do not sell the 10TH Doctor's ship..

all I can find is the new and "cheaply produced" 11TH doctor's flight control Tardis..!!!

I am so disgusted after exhaustive searches..

So the new 11TH doctor's toy looks great, but no interior light, no reflective interior tardis insert, no shot of the control console, and no light up windows or police box title..

why?? what the heck is the reason behind that?? what a ridiculous thing to do.. and now, as I try repeatedly to find one of the 10th versions without paying a "mint" to purchase it.. I am sooooo frustrated...

amazon uk doesn't ship to the USA, and Argos doesn't, entertainment earth is sold out and only has the 11th ship... If I have to see that crappy toy one more time, I am going to scream!!

sorry.. just seriously frustrated..

any help to a fellow collector would be highly appreciated...

It's made by Character Options Ltd. not Underground Toys. Underground Toys just import them to the US.

That's because they don't make them anymore.

If the lack of an interior light and picture irks you so much you can put a small L.E.D. and a printed out picture of the interior inside it.

So the new 11TH doctor's toy looks great, but no interior light, no reflective interior tardis insert,
What do you mean by reflective insert? I've got the Eccleston/Tennat one and the interior insert is just a glossy picture (generic publicity shot) on a thin piece of cardboard.

no shot of the control console,
You don't see the console because it not infront of the doors like the previous console was. You can blame set designer Edward Thomas for that one.

and no light up windows or police box title..
The windows and signs don't light up because they designed the toy off early publicity shots of the Smith box which had them in an unlit state so they just assumed they were unlit.

.. and now, as I try repeatedly to find one of the 10th versions without paying a "mint" to purchase it.. I am sooooo frustrated...
Again, they don't make them anymore. It's considered a collectors item now.

You can only find the toy of the current box because... well... it''s the current one on TV and it's the one that Character Options currently make.

I wonder if the backlash about the current TARDIS becomes widespread enough, a few brain cells will re-start over at CO and they'll make a proper 11th Doc F.C. TARDIS. Although, considering they've already had two releases, both of which don't hold a candle to the 9th/10th version, I doubt it.

Since when?

i put in my address and it said it wouldn't ship to me...

Are you buying it from *Amazon* or from Amazon *marketplace*? They are not the same thing.

hmmm.. you know, i am not sure.. I thought that they were the same, so does one ship to the USA and the other not??

I appreciate your reasoning but it still doesn't belay the fact that it is very difficult to find the 9/10th tardis, and I was aware of most of what you have sighted.. it just seems irresponsible for them to release the 11TH that way is all, which in tern drove the cost of the other sky high..

as for the interior, I just assumed it was reflective, as I do not own my own, I have to rely on youtube video reviews which made the interior seem like it reacts to the interior light..I thought the 11TH's interior was made without an LED light socket??

I wonder if the backlash about the current TARDIS becomes widespread enough, a few brain cells will re-start over at CO and they'll make a proper 11th Doc F.C. TARDIS. Although, considering they've already had two releases, both of which don't hold a candle to the 9th/10th version, I doubt it.

I can only wish they would release an 11TH perfect edition with fully lit windows, sign, and a re-imagined interior insert that shows the console..who cares if that is accurate or not to the set design..it just feels better to see the console..

Short version - The Marketplace section is where people sell their stuff through Amazon. Used cds, dvds, and such. That section usually has geographic restrictions. Amazon itself generally doesn't, especially on toys.

Considering they just released a set of the 11th, police uniform Amy and a Tardis with NO electronics at all... I'll second your doubts.

yeah I saw that yesterday online and I was like WTF??? that was the dumbest thing to do..that was a great opportunity to fix those issues of the 1st run..

on 2nd thought, that was the best way to get rid of overstock, and saved time and parts by not implementing them into the overstock..

good "character Options!" get that crap sold off and out, and bring us a Proper 11TH doctor's Tardis!:techman:

also, I have some other concerns..

what ever happened to a 4TH series Christmas box set?? ya know, with the Tardis box and 10 to 11 figures?? donna noble, davros, supreme dalek, jack, mickey with giant gun, rose, susan, Ood sigma, general Stal sontaran, adipose, vashta nerada, etc..

what about the 11th doctor's screw driver..

could we take the diecast version with real screw driver parts, and the toy version and just combine them, and make a great prop replica, with extending probe, speakers built into the extension for louder sound quality, extremely brilliant LED, and weighted feel to the replica itself..

I get the toy..

but the screw driver with limited features and an actual screwdriver in place of that function..?? I have a toolbox, and do not need a novelty tool in the shape of the doctor's sonic..

I would rather have a real proper, diecast sonic..

can some one show me the episode where the 4TH doctor's outfit from the 11 Doctor who figure set is accurately lifted from?? I sure as heck do not remember him wearing that outfit..??

why don't they do a classic 5 doctor's christmas set, add in Barusa as the dark disciple, and a raston warrior robot, some cybers, a yeti, brigadier and the master! now that would be awesome..

I want to purchase the figures but for me, space is an issue, so getting the Xmas boxed sets fulfills my need for additional figures as the boxes have most of what I want..

so..... more boxed sets please??:techman:

also would it have killed Character Options to include a small snap-fit card board colour photo shot of the classic Tardis for the 1st doctor's Tardis set?? the 4TH, or any of them for that matter?? simple little things guys, simple little things..:wtf:

Tom Baker's grey coat was worn on a few ocassions, but probably most notably in Seeds of Doom.

I think they've done every variation of Baker except for the light brown coat.

I watched a thing on YouTube yesterday where this guy is comparing the 9/10 version and the 11 version side-by-side, and, really, there is no comparison. Turn off the lights in the room, and on the original you've got glowing windows and police box sign, flashing lamp and illuminated console room within. Inside 11's: Darkness. Dead TARDIS here! :D

11's looks nice enough, but for the money, I'll just stick with my 9/10 style coin bank (to which I affixed a St. John Ambulance crest on the door).

Funny this should come up.

I got the 9/10th FCT the other year for christmas, a few years later, three weeks ago infact, i got the 11th FCT from a friend who didnt know i had one.. But they didnt know i had read the reviews and gone on to get another 10th FCT cheap online and done a little DIY paintjob on the panels changing the blue to a little lighter and widow frames white, creating an illuminating 11th FCT, complete with printout for the interior and st. john ambulance.

but yeah, compared to the 9/10 edition, it sucks on the features but does look pretty.

The 9/10 Flight Control TARDIS is awesome. I currently have a Dark Knight Returns Batman action figure standing in its open door on my desk. :)

Character Options seems to be getting cheaper when it comes to the Tardis and the Tardis playsets.

As we already know, the Police Box sign doesn't light up, nor does the interior and compared to the 9th/10th, yeah, it's poor.

So too with the 11th's Tardis playset. While the playset for the 9th/10th, had lights, sound and a time rotor that moved up and down, the 11th's is completely lacking in any light or sound. For that matter, there's no Tardis door either. It's just a print on the (incomplete) cardboard wall. And, when you stand a figure next to it, the top of the door is barely above the shoulder.

And what the hell is with the incomplete walls anyhow? Is paper really that costly?

I am seriously considering only purchasing "Tardis" items from the 9th/10th era.. while just getting a doctor from the 11TH series..

honestly, I can not see anyone paying retail for the new flight control tardis..

maybe it is worth 20.00 bucks at the most..

maybe 15.00...

it's a sad sad, and more sad representation of the 11TH doctor's Tardis..

the windows are wrong, the lighting is off, and just rubbish!!

Absolute Rubbish!!

Character options should be ashamed of themselves..

this is pretty cool, though I could do it myself..

11TH doctor's insert
http://cgi.ebay.com/CUSTOM-INTERIOR...nFigures_ActionFigures_JN&hash=item3cb44fcac6

and here is one for the 5TH,6TH, and 7TH
http://cgi.ebay.com/CUSTOM-INTERIOR...nFigures_ActionFigures_JN&hash=item3cb44fcce5

honestly though it is pretty sad that people would have to do that..

Josan is right.... WTF is the cost of paper in Great Britain??!! Are they serious!

and the call themselves character "options" what about the option to have a colour insert to place into your classic Tardis Toy Prop?? absolutely ridiculous!

here is a great video showcasing the differences..

Id personally like a cheap version of the non electronic one they have in the christmas set. Doesnt seem like anyone is Ebaying those, tho the seperate figures can be found.

too bad.. it would be cool to buy a loose non-electric police box to paint red for fun and create your own Tardis..

i broke down and paid 65.00 for the 10th doctor's tardis... had to find a Canadian online store.. thanks canucks!!!
