TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, regardless of their individual merits are all quite dead. TNG buried itself over the years with its own movie series, the other three were never really that popular to begin with.
The reason this TOS reboot is succeeding is because Kirk/Spock/McCoy are far more ingrained in popular culture than the others combined. Also, Star Trek VI was a pretty long time ago, and was fairly successful.
Where TOS built up into something bigger than it's original run through reruns, TNG was popular to begin with, and waned over the years. It's not coming back.
I really don't think any Trek TV show makes much sense at the moment. For it to really capitalize on the success of the movie, it would have to be Kirk/Spock/McCoy, which they can't do because those are the movie guys. I would think any other spin-off would have the exact same problems as other sci-fi TV, that is, there just isn't much of an audience for weekly space opera stuff. Big budget space shoot-em ups work much better, so that's what we're going to get for the foreseeable future.
