My 10 year old son, who initially said he "hated" the movie after his theatrical viewing because they destroyed Vulcan & killed Spock's Mom, just watched it on DVD tonight, & said it was "pretty good, even though."
He likes Pine's Kirk, and even had a bunch of laughs along the way. He said the NuE was acceptable, and only looked away when kissing was involved.

There's no way you could have gotten me to look away when people were kissing on screen when I was 10... or much younger.
