In a recent video interview, J.J. Abrams gave an update on Star Trek Into Darkness and officially confirmed the villain. “We’re just editing now,” said Abrams of Star Trek into Darkness, which will appear in theaters next May. Although he didn’t want to go into details about the movie, saying that “it was too early [...]

I got all excited and then saw all he confirmed is that Cumberbatch is playing the villain. Well, duh, we figured that out. We want a name, dammit.

I do recall some discussion here whether Cumberbatch was playing the villian, which was silly because if he's not playing the villian, he hasnt got the major role we all expect. There's been too much hooplah for him to have a bit part.

Abrams is really starting to take the piss now. What next, confirmation that Chris Pine is playing Kirk? Because it really hasn't been firmly established that he's playing Kirk in this movie and just because he was Kirk in the 2009 movie doesn't mean anything.

If he is trolling the fans - and that's a bit dubious - then I say a job well done to him. :techman:

LOL - had me going there for a moment: "In a recent video interview, J.J. Abrams gave an update on Star Trek Into Darkness and officially confirmed the villain." Cool! Khan? Mitchell? Who?

"Abrams also confirmed that Cumberbatch was the villain."

Fuck.

"it was too early to be talking specifically about the movie"

We know there is a movie. That is about the extent of it. Maybe with Trek 13 he could go one step further and film the whole thing without anyone outside of the production aware of it's existence. The Area 51 of film projects.

"Abrams also confirmed that the events of Star Trek Into Darkness take place sequentially after the events of the previous film, and that there would be a conflict that the crew of the Enterprise would be involved in. 'I feel like I've almost said too much,' Abrams opined - but then immediately gave away the conclusion of the film: 'It ends. And then there are credits.' He smiled coyly. 'I won't tell you whose names are in the credits. It will be interesting.'"

Clearly he's playing Darwin Tremor.

:rommie:

"Abrams later got piss-drunk and admitted to this reporter that the movie would not unfold in reverse chronology, a la Irreversible."

I hope one of those lucky fans rush up to Abrams and screams

"KKKKKKKHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNN!"

:guffaw:

I'm beginning to think that everything before the movie will just refer to Cumberbatch's character by the name Benedict Cumberbatch. The action figure will have Benedict Cumberbatch labeled on the packaging, the Countdown to Darkness comic book will refer to the character as Benedict Cumberbatch. It's going to get to the point where in the actual movie he's going to refer to himself as Khan or Gary Mitchell or Flint or the Prosecutor and everyone is going to be like "I thought his name was Benedict Cumberbatch. That's what everyone's been saying." Then everyone walks out of the theatre and the film tanks at the box office.
