Abram's Enterprise, Version 4

Always. The trick is to have detail that the viewer doesn't quite see... that we "perceive" without really "noticing." That's what fools us into thinking that we're seeing something real. Too vivid, and it looks cartoonish. Too blank, and it looks cartoonish. Reality is full of subtlety, and the trick is to mimic that sort of subtlety.

I totally love this ship after gazing at yours and Tobias wonderful models! The playmates Toy is great but i can't wait for a company like Art Asylum to do up a super detailed and accurate toy/model of this beauty.

Your newest version there MadMan is reaching towards film quality....at least imho. :D

Thanks guys. :) I'm going to remember the tips about subtlety in the future.

I agree about the Playmates model, but I bought one and like it anyway. :) I would love a 1:350 scale one to put together and paint up. that would be awesome. :)

Well, The model is done. It isn't rigged for animation yet, and I still want to tweak the torpedo tubes, but those are both very minor things. It was killing me to make a wallpaper image with it.

So, here it is. :)

If anyone has any ideas that they would like to see for wallpaper, let me know. :)

That looks pretty awesome, Madman. The subtle look did turn out better in the end.

But why are the Klingons flying with the Enterprise? Why not a more dynamic battle scene?

They're being escorted away. :)

The new Enterprise is so cool, the Klingons turn around and leave when they are told. :)

As I said some time ago, it's really fun to watch your skills improving with each version of that ship. :techman:
You lighting still sucks though ;) :D

Yeah, I know. It's easy to just blame it on Blender, though. :)

I guess I just like everything lit up bright and evenly. That doesn't mesh with the prevailing styles nowadays. :)

Hey Madman, have you seen this:

It's a highly characterized version of the new Klingon warbird seen only in the Kobayashi Maru simulator scene.

You think after you see the film, you might take on this ship as your next project?

Possibly. It depends on how different it looks from the Klingon ship I just built. :)

Also, on my list sometime soon, is a good version of that round space station, and some kind of new styled romulan ship. :)

YES! Your work is great! But the Nuprise, or the JJprise, or the Uglyprise ,or the Edselprise , what ever ,It is just gross!

Very impressive. I think the bright lighting actually makes it look more like a physical model. I feel like I could reach out and pick it up.
