Abrams Directing Star Wars

Can't he do both SW7 and ST3?
I would love to observe the effects of such a thing on internet message boards.

Its going to be fascinating to see the reaction to this! LOL!

I have enjoyed what he did with Star Trek but it was hard not to see it as more like Star Wars. Which I never really had a problem with as a fan of both. But now that new Star Wars movies are going to be made it makes sense for him to move his style to it. Do not forget he had to be convinced to direct this second film and not just produce it.

It will be interesting because he will basically be a director for hire. Bad Robot will likely have no role. But will continue with Trek.

Has this actually been confirmed in any way or is this just his name being tossed about as a possible director once again?

This move pretty much makes him an outright liar, since last month he said, "There were the very early conversations and I quickly said that because of my loyalty to Star Trek, and also just being a fan, I wouldn't even want to be involved in the next version of those things. I declined any involvement very early on. I'd rather be in the audience not knowing what was coming, rather than being involved in the minutiae of making them."

I'm not going to trust a single thing he says from now on. Harrison IS Khan.

Someone changing their mind! The HORROR!!!

If I had a chance to work on Trek, I'd likely be reluctant at first... but then the inner fan in me would take over.

I've never been a Star Wars fan, but I loved JJ Abrams' version of Trek.

If this is true, I have a bad feeling about Star Trek XIII for Trek's 50th... :(

JJ has officially lied to Star Trek.

That's it, I'm boycotting.

I'm only calling for a boycott if JJ doesn't say the following when it comes to directing the new Star Wars film.

"I am not making this for Star Wars fans. I am making this for movie fans."

Since he's an outspoken fan of Star Wars and NOT a fan of Star Trek, I highly doubt he'll say anything as condescending towards his fan favorite franchise.

Wouldn't mind as much if Matthew Vaughn wasn't in the runnings to direct. He's proven himself more worthy of handing a fantasy film with no need for lens flares and beating on the camera.

An unnamed "individual with knowledge of the production" might be right, but I'll wait for people to go on the record before considering this true.

Why? Star Wars has never had an issue selling tickets. So the marketing of the film will be very different.
