Abbe class model

This is Alliance's lovely little kit of Jackill's Abbe class Patrol Torpedo Cruiser, built fairly quickly, weathered a little too heavily, and named after one of the most famous PT boat skippers of WWII.

The white tactical number is strictly for visual sensor ID during maneuvers, of course.

Awesome work! I just started to learn to to weather, which method did you use if I may ask?

Pretty slick! I don't quite see the point of the white white tactical number, but i love it anyway! What scale is this?

After the coat of Future and decals, I gave it an overall very thin wash of black watercolor. After the black dried, I wiped it off in the direction of flight with a damp tissue, leavin juuuuust a little behind.

Pretty slick! I don't quite see the point of the white white tactical number,
Not getting the joke, then?

Oops - 1/1000

I really love this design... until i see the bottom of it...

The deflector and little Miranda bits on the bottom saucer totally undo anything cool about this design. It'd look a billion times better without them.

Kids, today! They know nothing about the great WWII sitcoms!

No, no! McHale's Navy. PT-73. I get the joke. I meant that I don't see why a ship in the Star Trek universe would need such markings. Especially since there are already big visual registry/ID numbers.

But I really do like them there and I do think the joke is funny. In-universe, maybe they are some sort of individual fleet/divisional designation that is outside to usual marking scheme. Or else maybe I'm just over-analyzing...

Golly. Sorry for being such a fun-suck!:p

Good Naturedly,
