Aaron Sorkin won't write a making-of-TOS script.........

Yeah, the jumping thru time in the Ricardos wasn't sufficiently clear to me to NOT be confusing. And JK Simmons did indeed steal the show.

I doubt a Sorkin script could survive the casting couch, or the white washing of the casting couch.
I'd like to see a biography of Gene R but I think if you mentioned his various affairs and casting couch activities it would distract from the story. But if you mention how wonderful his 2nd marriage was then you'd have to describe his extramarital activities to be realistic.
You know I was watching the Queen biography and I thought gee how nice everyone was. I'd vomit if they did the same thing to GR.

A biopic of Gene that stuck closely to the facts would be a horrible movie. I absolutely agree that if it's to be done properly it should be warts and all, but still... Gene seems to me to be a person who had a few sprinkles of absolute brilliance dancing around within so much problematic stuff.

I was not impressed with The Social Network or Steve Jobs and would not be interested in either some hagiographic depiction or nasty tell-all and think Sorkin (given those films) would tend to the latter but either would be offputting-and a bland milquetoast take would be really bad. Most people who dislike Roddenberry still like Shatner (and/or Nimoy) and with the actors still beloved you probably would at least get an overall bland take on the actors.

A lot of successful film/TV makers are womanizers and/or otherwise become very egotistical.

Gene grew to believe his own hype! So did George Lucas and the Wachowskis and probably Peter Jackson and James Cameron.

People in top positions of power tend to be a-holes, and this is because they need to get things done in order to move their agenda/project/campaign/career forward, and this frequently requires kicking people in the rear to get them all moving in the same direction. Having the ability to abuse people and not care (sociopaths) is part of the job description, along with having a massive ego.

Gates, Zuckerberg, Bezos, Jobs, Henry Ford, George S. Patton, the list goes on and on.

You know what would be nice: a DC Fontana biopic. Secretary to Story Editor to Showrunner during the Mad Men-era of television producing? Sounds like riveting, groundbreaking stuff. Sorkin might not be the best man for that job, though.
But DC Fontana was a lady! A gender Sorkin writes extremely well if the story calls for it! ;)
