Wasn't the case against him dropped because a witness was pleading the 5th amendment?
If I recall, a case was dropped against him by a member of the public, but some of the stuff I was reading at the time suggested that this was done because the police themselves wanted to bring a much larger case against him. I've no idea how it all works, just what I remember seeing.
Of course, since then, at least two people with allegations against him have died, I think?
It's been very odd.
Yeah, so, we in Germany have a legal standard, where people are innocent until proven guilty by courts. I also can remember particular TNG episodes on this very issue, so I dare to say, libel and slander is a crime, too.
