A TNG Unauthorized Set Vist!

The guy in the videos comes across as a major league jerk.

"Bring me my black & white camera from my attache case... NOW!"

:guffaw:

I couldn't even finish watching the first video because of the warp barrier breaching level of douche-ness.

10th March 1988 (a thursday). Was that between seasons or were they still shooting there?
.

He referred to events in "Skin of Evil", which would've aired 6 weeks after that time stamp. So, since that prop was just laying around the set, I'd assume that they had just finished that and was working on one of the final episodes of the season, which ended on May 16, 1988.

But, if he knew about a 4/25 episode on 3/10...perhaps he was a stage-crewmember.

I shudder at the thought. I'll blame all the suck season 1 episodes on him.

Don't forget, the videos start off with him standing next to the Remmick Dummy they explodes at the end of "Conspiracy" (season one's penultimate episode), TV episodes are usualy filmed weeks or months ahead of time so it's entirely possible they were either finishing up filming the season finale (The Neutral Zone) or finished for the season all together.

One of them worked for a Paramount contractor and hid in the soundstage when everyone left at the end of the day. He let his friend in later that evening.

I couldn't even get through the first one. I think my 5 year old can handle a camera better than that.

Yeah, I rationalize it by saying it was 1988, handheld video-cameras where just starting to really get popular in the home-market around then so I guess we can excuse it a little. I just crack up at the pretense of him acting like a tour guide on a dark ship with nothing powered on, crap all over the place and he just looked/sounded like an idiot anyway (he stumbled a lot with some of the treknology terms too.)

I was also a bit surprised at the touch-sensitive transporter control. I think we actually get to see Yar playing around with it in "Symbiosis."

I think they changed that console by season 2. I always assumed they had some sort of preprogrammed lighting sequence for the "sliders" and the actor was being attentive to make sure his fingers matched the "sliding" lights. After seeing this, it makes me wonder if the later transporter controls in TNG and Voyager were touch sensitive or not.

I agree with everyone else on this board about what a tool this guy was. He's probably reading our posts and getting really ticked.

Damn it, I just knocked the keyboard tray out of the desk I was laughing at this idiot so hard. "A" for having the brass ones to sneak onto the TNG set back in the day, but I take it away for being a total douche. Them getting busted in the end is the best part.

I remember hearing about a incident toward the end of season 1 where some of the electronics on the set were found left on and some of the bulbs blown, I'm betting the two incidents are one in the same.

Of course we all know what the real question, the only question, is: Which TrekBBS member is the one that did it

I think I'm going to yell that out a completely random times

Middle of banking "Get my black and white Camera!"

"I hope you enjoyed your holodeck adventure."

What a doofus. Honestly...what were they planning on doing with this? Taping it while checking the set out/playing around is one thing, but taping it as a documentary?

Wow, that guy reminds me of Michael Scott (Steve Carell's character) from The Office.

Yeah, but Michael Scott is, you know, cool.

This was probably going to be edited together and watched by friends.

The qaulity is so shitty though, that you can barely see anything.

And I'd like to see if they filmed anything afterward of being chased out.

Watching this, I think enough has been said about the guy himself. It just brings back memories of TNG. They should have saved the sets!!!

I agree with Marina Sirtis who said as she went to the VOY set, "I said 'I like it' -- I lied. I wish it were the TNG set!"

Cool touchsensitive panels, well done!

I do wonder what happened to these guys in the end...how the videotape came online, etc. Was anyone fired? Hopefully not, although this was a brazen bad stunt. Knocking down the biobed was unacceptable!

BTW there was a sickbay set in S1. It was used in 'The Neutral Zone,' 'Where No One Has Gone Before,' 'Lonely Among Us', among others.

The Observation Lounge set did double-duty as sickbay, there's plenty of sickbay scenes in Season one where you can clearly see the covered windows of the ObsLounge.

By Season 2, along with 10-Foward, they built an independant Sickbay set, as well as (IIRC) relocating the Obs.Lounge set.

Not to be a spelling Nazi...but I absolutely LOVE it when people misspell "quality".
