How much "realer" can you get with 2d animation outside of high-def anime? The closest after that is photorealistic CGI before you get to Live-ActionNo, I want them to look much more real than this.
No Manga characters.

I could see anime working very well, or an anime-inspired Western Animation. But in general I'd be happy if the animation is fluid, pleasing to the eye and colourful/interesting (so they'd def have to get rid of those awful, grey uniforms and introduce a couple visually interesting aliens to the cast, like TAS did)There is always anime. The Japanese have shown time and time again that they are fully capable of making Space Drama, (although most of them revolving around war like Gundam, Crest/Banner of the Stars, Starship Operators)
Yeah, as a fan of animation I would not want that. It would probably animate not that well, and look (in my opinion) creepy. No, even that Hunchback Of Notre Dame looks too cartoonish.
I'm thinking about some of those AI generated pictures who show up here and there who looks very real. Something like that.
I desperately hope we get another TOS animated series before Shatner is gone.

I am 1000% okay with that.I don't need a series. I think an animated movie would be a nice tribute to TOS.

Something like we got for the Adam West Batman in the form of animated movies would be pretty fantastic.
Either way, we still have 3 of the voices, and we are running out of time.
Except he has done animated voice work, playing Two Face in the Adam West animated Batman movie.
Yes, the other two are doing voice work.
That is my point.
Now or never.
Anything centered around him, he would do. Except nobody is producing anything like that, and nobody ever will, because nobody in charge of making Trek is interested in having him be the star. Not to mention that, you know, Kirk died in Star Trek Generations.Shatner has REPEATEDLY said he is willing to do Trek, even WANTS to do Trek, but not for a bad story, or no reason, or just a cameo. A TOS tribute movie centered around him, and you think he wouldn't do it? Lol.
OK, I was unaware of that. I stand corrected. Has he done any more voice work since 2017 when this project happened?
My point was that Takei and Koenig have already lent their voices to current Trek productions. You are making it sound like their only reason for existing is to do more of that, when the reality is probably that they are just fine with some voice cameos and not some whole series based around them.

Do you just really not want more Shatner Kirk, and will go out of your way to make up reasons to deny it?
Why wouldn't anyone be interested in having him be the star?
The uncanny valley is still very much a thing, and it's even more problematic with subjects that are familiar in live action form. How about a photorealistic CGI animated movie based on Star trek in the vein of the CGI Biohazard/Resident Evil movies or Final Fantasy?
I don't care that much for animation in general either.I could see anime working very well, or an anime-inspired Western Animation. I'm a fan of fluid, traditional animation and for that you just have to get more cartoony/simple.
Then again, I'm generally not that interested in continuing old series, in animated or any other form.

Ah, I understand now. Okay 3D animations is more your style then.I don't care that much for animation in general either.
But when it comes to TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY I could actually accept animation if it could keep those series alive with new exciting adventures for our favorite characters.
It would solve the problem with characters whose actors are dead, too old and not want to do it anymore
Much better than stupid "re-makes". Who would like to see other actors replace Shatner, Stewart, Frakes, Brooks and the others? Just the thought of some Melissa Tyrelips trying to be Kes in a future series breaks my heart.
Not to mention that almost all remakes are so incredibly bad. I've watched some episode of the Re-make Walker Texas ranger and Magnum just out of curisity and they were so bad that I turned them off after about 20 minutes. The new actors were so terrible.
This is becoming more what I want!
Could be great with some further improvement.

I'd just prefer new exiting adventures with new exciting characters who then can become my new favourites. But when it comes to TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY I could actually accept animation if it could keep those series alive with new exciting adventures for our favorite characters.

Yeah, Its jarring to hear a different voice coming from that character. I watch a lot of anime, especially dubbed anime, with long runners sometimes one or two of the voice actors would drop out and are replaced with new voice actors. The effect is just like in live action where an actor is swapped/recasted with a new actor.
That's fair but then the animation route is really not one for you. I think if it's animated, then the animation should take advantage of the medium, and not stick as close to the real world as possible. But I'm saying that as an animation fan.
I'd just prefer new exiting adventures with new exciting characters who then can become my new favourites.
And I'm not sure whether it counts as "remake" but I think SNW is excellent. I think Celia Rose Gooding is doing an excellent job as Uhura, for example, same for Ethan Peck as Spock.
As for the other actors you mention...I wouldn't care if somebody "replaced" them, my problem is more that I want to see new characters.
I agree, I think it is pointless to recast already established characters especially when the TOS is available to watch on bluray and stream. Why revisit TOS with the original crew when you can make a new crew and stories that don't step on the toes of the TOSThe voices is a big problem which can be hard to solve.
And personally I can't stand when actors are replaced or certain characters are swapped/recasted with a new actor. I've seen some downright horrible examples of that.
If an actor quits or dies, then it's better to write out the character from the series. But not necessary kill off the character because if the actor is still alive and well and want his/her job back or the fanbase demands it, then we are faced with rthe "Bobby Ewing syndrome".
I just want my favorite series and favorite characters back. If animation can solve that in a most realistic way, then I'm all for it.
I haven't ben able to watch all of SNW yet but I mightactually like a series with new characters set in the TOS era. But when it comes to classic TOS characters played by new actors.............well, that makes me cringe.
I found it hard to accept the new actors in the NuTrek movies. I remember that I constantly re-named the "movie Kirk" Thomas Kirk because he looked like a classmate I once had in school whoce name was Thomas. In fact, I have an unfinished story in which a Starfleet Officer named Thomas Kirk shows up, a grand-grandson to James T.Kirk.
As for new series with new characters, well I rather see a series set in the 24th century with new characters all of them than some "re-casted" characters from TNG, DS9 and VOY.
Unfortunately the skill to come up with good characters and good stories seems to be totally gone now. I remember that I was pleased when PIC showed up and what did we get................![]()
