A SyFy success story (you're not gonna like this...)

I've tried to watch some of these movies but can't make it more than 20 minutes. They seriously need some nudity.

A lot of them do (I'm sure it's pretty easy to convince young actresses with no credentials to do nudity in cheap knockoff movies that will never springboard them to bigger and better things). Just don't watch them on the SyFy channel. :p

Why? Crappy low budget films that people get a kick out of watching have been around for decades.

Indeed.

Clearly, the time has come to remake NIGHT OF THE LEPUS.

Or maybe WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST?

I wanna remake Horror Express and At The Earth's Core...

Well, if the JOHN CARTER OF MARS movie is a hit, I'm sure Hollywood will take another look at Pellucidar . . . .

Dibs on the remake of VAMPIRE CIRCUS!

:p
Because some writers just do that as a matter of course - it's kind of our raison d'etre, regardless of whether it'd affect the ratings. It'd just be more fun

Funny how writers like that never seem to get any work.

No, they just get work writing books.

Which goes to show that TV and movies producers don't generally value such things as "good dialogue" or "intelligent plots." But novels are something different - bad writing has nowhere to hide.

I can't really begrudge the Syfy Saturday movies. A friend of mine has written a couple of them. Whatever gets him work in his chosen profession. :techman:

Which, again, is just like the old days in which fresh young talent got their start doing drive-in movies for Roger Corman.

(Loved his cameo in SHARKTOPUS!)

Yknow ever since Rockne O'Bannon joined V, and turned it into a hilarious, nasty schlockfest, it's been much improved and actually fun to watch. But since it's on ABC, it's got the wrong audience and no doubt will be cancelled soon.

Skiffy should take this as inspiration and instead of giving us weepy emo crap like Being Human and lightweight fluff like Warehouse 13/Eureka, come up with some monster-movie type TV series that are just dumb fun and don't try to be cute or make us feel sorry for the characters.

I noticed the tone shift but not the personnel change. Interesting.

I've wondered about that with SighFi but I guess that is the sole province of the original movies.

Indeed, all the better to market the "uncensored" dvd release for rental and retail markets.

More of them don't than you'd think, though. Asylum does a rip off of John Carter with Traci Lords and there's no nudity? Come on!

Wait, Rock is working on V? To the Hulus!!!

Yep, and I also noticed the tonal shift before catching his name in the opening credits. Now we know where Farscape got its gross/weird/violent/crazy/silly part from. I dunno who was responsible for the good parts but so far, O'Bannon doesn't actually seem to be making V a better show, just a more daring and outrageous one.

They need to find whoever made Farscape good and then drag him in, too. But it's probably too late, since they've gallumphed down the absurd "soul" path from which I suspect there is no return...
