A stranger just grabbed my junk.

And I feel it is you throwing digs at men.

And your foot long post quoting Dukat, and myself were not digs? Yeah, right.

Your whole attitude smacks of trouble-making to me.

EDIT:

Thank you for your well thought out response RJ, but I still think "vagina punching" is not particularly PG13 friendly, which is what I understood this forum to be.

As to people saying what has misogyny to do with this topic, the answer is not much! It's only in light of other threads and recent trends that it has become upsetting, and some of us have grown sensitive to it... I believe RJ himself was referring to the friendlies and warning he gave out in the Tattoos thread.... where there was a definite prectice of sexism, woman bashing, and namecalling.

It should be obvious that what happens in previous threads, can spill over into later ones, although it shouldn't.

I recognise that you're probably frustrated, but maybe we shouldn't just put up with it? Maybe a mess is exactly what the board needs? I've tried to change a few opinions in private and haven't been successful; perhaps we should take a new tack? Gentelman's Club or no, there is never a good excuse for misogyny.

Maybe starting a thread dealling specifically with this might be a good idea. Bring it out in the open so to speak and let the others know how you feel about them. In looking through the threads in any forum, each of the moderators finds things that he/she finds distasteful, unethical, or immoral.
Yeah, I'd like to bring it out in the open; I'm just not sure how to phrase the thread so that it results in constructive dialogue rather than petty bickering. I guess I need to just suck it up and start it anyway--by not doing so, the conversation is spilling over into other threads (like this formerly light-hearted one).

Also, just for the record, I don't think the mods have any part in the problem or the solution. The problem (in my opinion) is us, the community, and our collective attitudes. As far as I'm considered, you guys do your jobs well--you act on the actionable stuff and respectfully disagree with the non-actionable stuff that you don't agree with.

[A very long, thoughtful response.]
That was awesome, Elmo. Thanks for keeping things calm and well-reasoned. You're a better poster than I am!

What happened to the funny thread I was reading?
Welcome to the Internet. :borg: It's for serious business!

In fact, I got one just a few hours ago asking me to try to explain the actions of another mod. And yes, I am trying...
Woah. Your job is harder than I thought.

Oh, and by the way, on the topic ---

Did anyone ever accidentally kick/hit/elbow their dad or brother or husband in the junk? I accidentally did it to my dad once and I felt awwwwwwwful. I mean, beside the embarrassment of having to face the fact that one's father HAS junk ;) , there's the fact that one caused one's father intense pain. :(
I hit my dad on the noggin with a shovel once. On accident, I swear! Being my dad, he was rather good-natured about it, although since my sister had clobbered him with a baseball only a couple months before, he took to teasing us for a while.

This thread was about women from the first post. Babaganoosh and Alaedhros certainly steered it that way if it wasn't.
You're right, Hermiod, I definitely did my part in steering it that way. I'm not really a fan of the Blame Game (when did assigning blame ever help solve a problem?), but if we're going to talk about who got this thread off-track then I think Baba and I should be first in line (and I'll gladly take Baba's share of the blame, as he has wisely stayed out of the resulting facas!). (For the record, I did think about my remark before I posted, and I thought that since it was (originally) a light-hearted thread that Trekker wouldn't mind a little side-conversation. That "little side-conversation" has since rather taken over the thread...)

Now I'm confused.

See, there is misogyny on this board, plenty of it. And I'm sure my co-mods would back me saying that I'm usually pretty quick to spot it. ;) But I can't actually find much in this thread.
Don't be confused--you're absolutely on the money. For my part, I took the discussion taking place here to be about the wider misogyny (and sexism, and chauvinism) of the board, not just what was posted in this thread (which was quite minor by comparison).

I'm not blaming you or Babaganoosh for anything, I was replying to the specific point that Elmo made.

and you did a good job! I think others explained better than I did about the wider point I was trying to make that was inspired by this thread, rather than specifically based on this thread.

Why not just dive right in, I always say.

*grabs Dukat's junk gently*

If that wasn't a clear case of so called "naming and shaming", I don't know what is. The least you can do is admit to what you were doing as graciously as, Aleadhros was able to do.

No worries, O. In the interest of getting the thread back on track, I'm willing to wait for the thread that will address these sorts of things more directly. ;) Cheers! :bolian:

So I'm over in line at Five Guys getting me some dinner and they're quite crowded. There's a couple of cute girls in line in front of me, I smile lightly at them, they smile back. No big deal.

When a heavy set guy, having retrieved his order, brushes past quite aggressively. Well, the cuter of the two infront of me (she looked like a younger Bitchelle from 24! :)) lost her footing on her huge, clunky, heeled boots she was wearing and stumbled backwards. For some reason or other she decided to brace her fall by pushing her right arm/hand backwards, resting it on my crotch, and even grasping a bit. In my quickness I also caught her fall by catching her in the waist area with my right arm.

She looked up at me, said "Sorry." blushed, lightly; I said, "No problem" and then life went on.

You should create another thread as toi why you didn't ask for her number.

You know, this still isn't funny. Not even the second time around.

And I'm going to tell you the same thing I told the last person.

This. Is. Not. Cool.

This is a good example of trolling and will be dealt with as such.

Keep this kind of response to yourself.

The more rare thing would be finding a topic which hasn't been hijacked!

Apologies to poor Trekker!

Us being trekkies and all, we can't be expected to have much junk to speak of really... that would be too much to ask. :D
