A simple question

this may be common knowledge, but I just don’t know the answer regardless. I’ve recently discovered a couple of fan series: Star Trek New Voyages, and Star Trek Continues. Both have duplicated the look of TOS brilliantly. The sets are uncanny reproductions of the original. In every way, imho, impressive productions.
My question is are these productions related in any way? Are they using the same sets, or are there two such perfect reconstructions of the original sets?
I hope someone had an answer, as I’m very curious. Thanks.

These film series are already from a few years ago. New Voyages (this series at one point was rebranded as Star Trek Phase 2 so you might find a few more films under that name) was begun over 10 years ago by professional Elvis impersonator James Cawley and he built his sets in his hometown in Upper New York state. currently the sets are a tourist attraction and can be visited (check out its website for times). This series had appearances by OG Trek actors such as Walter Koenig and George Takei in separate episodes.
As for ST Continues, at one point its founder Vic Mignona participated in 2 or 3 New Voyages episodes and he decided to strike out on his own with his own take of about 10 episodes or so. He also had a few lesser-known Trek actors participating on some of his shows...The Continues sets are still in Georgia last I heard...
Both fan film series have their own strengths, and many of the same weaknesses (although each has its own specific weaknesses as well), but can be enjoyed for what they are: fan films...
If you are discovering these series and wish to sample a few more original Trek -era series that are definitely worth watching, may I suggest you explore YouTube and look out for the two Starship Exeter episodes (especially the second one The Tressarian Intersection), the Starship Farragut series, Starship Valiant to begin with...

Thanks. I had seen a couple scenes, etc from New Voyages a while ago. I actually thought ST Continues was a continuation of New Voyages, but for some reason they recast everybody! Glad to get this confusion cleared up.
I’ve seen the two Exeter episodes and liked those very much. I had an easier time with the actors playing new characters than the original characters. They were all pretty impressive.

Here you will find a variety of Star Trek Fan Films that are particularly good. They are from several eras, include animation and live action, drama and comedy, shorts and full-length films: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/1.html. That will give you links to the Exeter films and the most popular Star Trek Fan Film of all time, Star Trek: Horizon, set at the time of Enterprise, and a few dozen others.

On behalf of the Exeter folk, thanks.
