A Serious? Question

People just don't understand what it means to be prim & proper. To them, today, it seems gay

Janice Manheim (The one who got away) "We'll Always Have Paris"

Vash (The one that made no sense) "Captain's Holiday" "Qpid"

Nella Darren (Frankly, the perfect woman for him) "Lessons"

In "The Inner Light", he maintains a wife & raises a family

In "Tapestry", he goes back to his youth, & bonks his female Academy cadet friend

The man could envision anything he wanted, while in the Nexus, & what's he envision? a wife & family, enjoying holiday

There's even the possibility that, according to the finale, he will quite possibly marry Beverly Crusher

Every chick on the show has the hots for him, from the judge who presided over the "Data's rights" hearing, to Troi's mom, to the fricking Borq Queen

Picard = Hetero

you, kind sir, obviously did not watch the video i posted above....

 :techman:Even though everyone thinks of Riker as the ship's lady's man if you really pay attention to canon, Picard runs neck in neck, if not exceeding Riker, in the female adulation department.

And Picard although reserved, returns the sentiment. In Qpid, Q remarks to Picard about Vash, " She's found a vulnerability in you, a vulnerability I've been looking for for years. If I'd known sooner, I would have appeared as a female."

One of the best examples of how deferential Picard can be to a woman he cares about is "Times Arrow" watch how tenderly he treats Guinan in those two episodes.

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

Good points. Plus, look at how gingerly he handles the whole situation in "Liaisons", when he realizes that the woman on the planet is falling in love with him. He does everything possible to avoid hurting her feelings

Was Captain Picard gay?

Give it some thought if you're inclined or just laugh it off.

It's a question, for sure.

But not sure it's serious.

(Here's a little hint. Just because you have a question doesn't mean you need to put a question mark into a statement leadng up to that question!)

No, it's not.

Bussard collectors are inanimate objects, devices attached to the forward nacelles of starships.

The question of a sentient being's sexual preferences is obviously different in kind, unhappy face notwithstanding.

since you missed the obvious train, let me break it down for you. why ask a question that has already been answered numerous times and quite obvious what the answer is? hence using the bussard collectors as an example.

if this was an attempt at sarcasm, then you fail.

:guffaw:
Sorry to offend your sensibilities, although grinning face obviously showed you got over it fairly quickly, glad to see.

The point is that the answer is not as obvious and settled as you thought it was, and so, I'm kinda interested now, what did you think the answer was?

The fact that I have to ask, along with the varying views in the thread, should reveal that it is much more of an open query than you suspected. That's what makes this group so much fun. We get to speculate and to test our views against others.

No doubt there have been numerous discussions about the sexual preferences of the bussard collectors, that I have missed - my loss.

BTW, that last sentence IS sarcasm.

I wish he had been. Would've spared me quite a few stupid episodes that I have to ignore in order to stay calm and sane and healthy. ;)

Consider this quote (taken from here):

If Q is the freed nature of Picard, and Q might be gay, is there some possibility Picard is repressing homoerotic parts of himself?

Patrick Stewart: It is certainly possible. Picard's had plenty of affairs and relationships.
I've always seen him as bisexual. *shrug* Not that it matters much in the 24th century anyway, but still. The fact that we never saw him with a boyfriend doesn't mean that he never had one.

And his one true love is Q anyway, we all know that. ;)

Oy! I don't even want to think of either of them doing the Princeton rub! Yikes! :guffaw: -- RR

Add to the list of women who tried to seduce Picard, albeit due to villainous ulterior motives, Duras sister B'Etor, Klingon kleavage sporter, and Ardra from Devil's Due. It's that bald head of his! -- RR

so, are the bussard collectors purple?

thing with speculation is that it works well with unknowns. speculating about established things is not really much about speculation. it becomes more of a fantasy or reimagining. like asking if air is blue, if water is wet, if 1+1 =2. sure you can put whatever answer you want after those questions, but the fact remains that there already is an answer. not much speculation needed. reimagining, sure, elaboration, sure, maybe even side facts.

;)

There's also the Ba'ku lady whose name also escapes me. Seriously, who would leave such a place with a setup like that?
Would you want to live in Insurrection every day for the rest of your life?

I thought it was implied that Picard was going to be spending his Off time there with Anij. I think it was about 3 or 4 months worth of time he had to take.

Picard was never, and never will be gay. He was in touch with his 'inner woman'. Whilst some Eps show him behaving a little 'fruity', these are simply reflections of his inate 'actorishness'.

:techman:

He wasn't gay, but his character was harmed by the fact that he didn't have a stable relationship with a woman. They should have developed the Picard/Beverely Crusher relationship right from the start.
