A real ensemble piece?

I was on the official movie site when I saw a link for the credits, and it struck me as a little odd that it's not "Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto in STAR TREK, etc..." like you usually see, where lead actors go before the title, followed by the rest of the cast.

So, does this mean that no one actor/character is greater than the whole in this film? It'd be good to see Chekov and Sulu get some overdue movie limelight if so. If it does turn out to be a true ensemble piece, then that's just sweetened the deal a little bit more for me.

I'm probably reading too much into it, but has anyone else noticed that or have any comments about it?

I think they are just listing them alphabetically. I does seem a bit odd though.

Well, the only "name" so to speak is leonard Nimoy... most of the others are really lumped in the "new" or "charecter actor" folders who don't "draw" such billing.

Yep, alphabetical. Maybe it is their way of showing it's an ensemble cast...

Billing is a pay and status thing in Hollywood. To be featured first generally means you're getting paid more, as does 'with' and 'and' at the end. 'With' and 'and' also indicate status given to big name actors with smaller roles.

Most likely all the cast are listed in alphabetical order because they are being paid at the same relative rate. Meaning Pine and Quinto may be making more but only because they have more screentime, not because they are being paid at a higher rate. Higher rates are justified by drawing power and no one's going to see this movie because "Oh my god! Chris Pine is in it!"

Myself, I never heard of the kid before.
