A question on the beginning of "The Emperor's New Cloak"

Rush Limborg

Vice Admiral
Admiral
So I'm watching the first scene of "The Emperor's New Cloak"--where Quark is whining to Odo about Bashir coming on to Ezri, while the two are observing the two sitting at a table, talking and laughing and carrying on. Julian seems to be telling her a funny story, or something--but I can barely make anything out, on the audio track.

Every time I see that...well, I guess I find myself wondering what the two are saying. Was there a script for this scene (much like for Sisko's argument in his office with an admiral over subspace in "The Maquis, Part I")? Or was the interaction improvised between the two actors?

(I admit, I have my doubts as to the latter, as Quark's "Look at that!" was too perfectly timed with Bashir raising his hands above his head. But, whatever....)

So, what do you all think? What were they saying while Quark was whining? (This is not a joke-caption thread, BTW...I'm doing this for a bit of research.)

I really cannot recall what Ezri Dax was talking about with Julian. All that I can think about, it was just small talk and a way to get Ezri Dax out of the story. To be nice, Ezri Dax did not have anything important to do during "The Emperor's new Cloak" other then to make Quark want to have her. Recall, when Ezri Tigan (mirror universe) was on DS9, Quark thought it was Ezri Dax.

True, I wished that Ezri Dax and Ezri Tigan did see each other like they did with Kira. But, I do not have a time machine and I really do not want to go back to the late 20th century.

The script just says: "BASHIR and EZRI are seated at a table, laughing amiably and innocently enjoying each other's company." Everything else is played off of Odo and Quark's dialogue.

Hmm....

I don't suppose there was any attempt to transcribe the dialogue, or something?

Probably not--at least, now what I've seen, if my Google search is any indication....

What I find is interesting, Quark notice Ezri Dax, and he really is jealous. Ezri Tigan comes to his room, and Quark thinks at first it is Ezri Dax. Would Quark notice that Ezri would have to change her outfit and spend time to place that much make-up within a short period of time? Oh that is right, Quark is a male, should have understood sooner than later.
