A question about performers (actors, musicians)

Does your attitude about the personality of a performer affect whteher or not youlike their work.

I can say in some cases it does for me.

For example, in addition to being someone who cannot act, i picture Michael Cera as a snot and I really have no desire to watch his films. And Michael Stipe, in addition to having a horrible voice,. is a snot as well. I hate REM

It can. I used to be a fan of Mel Gibson's. Then, the more I saw of him, the more I heard about him, the more interviews I saw...the less I liked him. Now, after his strange behavior and racist comments, I have no desire to see his films.

I suppose the same can be said about Tom Cruise, but I was never a huge fan of his to begin with.

Though I was never that keen on him to start with, Tom Cruise speaks so much shit about Scientology that I have grown to dislike him him completely.

Dont care about what they do in real life. Tom Cruise may be a crazy douche in real life but I have enjoyed some of his films. I'm sure there are musicians who are total jerks in real life too. Since I pay to listen to their music and not their private life, I cant say I care all that much.

Cera and Stipe never struck me as "snots" when I've seen them interviewed. Though they do share a kinda of low key, soft spoken way of talking. Maybe that comes across as snotty to some people? Shy,quiet and reserved people are often mistakened for being stuck up. Happened to me a few times.

I just enjoy their work and whatever happens in their personal life is none of my concern.

It used to. All the stories from the TOS cast about Shatner and his shit ruined TOS for me for a while, but then when I realized that was getting in the way of me enjoying one of my favorite shows, I put it in the proper perspective. Now I couldn't care less what Shatner (or any actor for that matter) does. When I look at Star Trek I see James Kirk. Not William Shatner.

Jennifer Aniston. Her appearing in the same movie as Rachel once or twice a year doesn't make missing her films all that difficult, thankfully.

I don't normally care about actors' personal lives, but all the "boo hoo hoo, my husband left me for Angelina Jolie, boo hoo hoo, please show your sympathy by paying to see my movies" business put me right off.

Oh, and Cheryl Cole. We told you you were marrying a greedy, backstabbing, lying little c**t. You didn't listen. Tough.

It's rare that I pay enough attention to any celebrity's personal life for it to have an effect on how I view them.
