Re: A possible Bridge Concept for the Enterprise in the Movi

the sterile white look reminds me of "2001" I guess that goes with the prestin future look

Cripes. That's a concept drawing of the bridge from Phase II (I think). I do remember seeing it in a "Starlog" magazine decades ago (before STMP).

You are correct, that is indeed the bridge concept for the Enterprise that was to be used in the Phase II series, if it had gone ahead. Elements of that design did get utilized in ST:TMP (the ceiling dome, for example).

Yeah, it IS retro-70s, but honestly, I don't think it's that bad of a design, folks. It was a natural extension of the 60s bridge.

Eh. It needs plants. Or a splash of color. Something to warm it up.
I think you can still buy that captain's chair today at any Pier 1. It comes in the white shown, as well as ecru, black and fire engine red.

Seriously, I agree the concept isn't THAT bad after you get rid of that laugable captain's chair. As someone else may have pointed out in an above post, the bridge is very "2001" in look, though. All that white.

I just want them to always say "THE Enterprise" instead of just "Enterprise" like in that last abortion of a show.

Some ship names WORK without a "the"...Voyager, for example. But come on! Kirk, Spock, and McCoy NEVER referred to her as just "Enterprise" and I hope to hell they don't in this movie or I will puke. (For some reason, I'm less concerned with BIG details like sets than I am with the small details that made the show what it was and, hopefully, can be again.)

Ditto. And if it pisses off some fans I'm even in more favor of it.

Doesn't look very ergonomical or practical. The design of a bridge should be a combination of these two things (with some extras ofcourse)

I'd want them to refer to HER (not ever say 'it' to her again ;) ) as 'the Enterprise'

They should call it "teh Enterpr1se" because it will bring in the younger demo.

Disco Trek! That's a Mike Minor concept painting for what eventually became STTMP. And no thanks!

I'm a bigger fan of this possible bridge concept:

The color combination on that makes me think of a certain tank engine...

My idea:

Everything in the same arrangement as in the first pilot but...

LCD panels of the same size where the round cornered astronomy art was mounted on the walls. Mount the panels on pipe like rails so it looks like trim was added around the front of the LCDs to produce the series appearance. Power and data conduits visible between and under the panels

Similar mounting on smaller displays above consoles and around the consoles themselves. Pipes along front edge of consoles for hand grip rails.

Helm/Navigation console a framework of pipes with visible conduits leading through the pedestal to a hole in the floor. Again an enclosure added later look. Make it look like the some of the rails ended up being the corners and edges of the TOS console.

Captain's chair with similar leather upholstery but again pipe mounted panels hanging outboard of the arm rests.

Remainder of bridge seating similar to the chairs in the TOS shuttle.

Flat panel intercoms on articulated mounting arms as if the goose neck ones with the rounded housings were a subsequent replacement.

Visible ducts and conduits on the walls of corridors with mystery equipment to make it look like the corridors were later equipped with cover panels for the events depicted in the original pilot.
