A open message to Hallmark

Was the big DS9 ornament they did one year supposed to be a tree-topper, or just something else to hang from the tree?

I think a starbase would be a great tree topper.

Here's my tree topper, a homage to the conclusion of ST II.

He was originally a TOS Spock ornament, bought from "Star Trek: The Experience", but I repainted his uniform shirt and added some craft shop wings and a wire halo:

For next year, I am betting that it'll be the new Enterprise.

Agreed. Knowing that designs are made well before spring, I think it would take a national disaster before they could switch it to another concept.

But speaking about the ornaments, which scenes would folks like to see made?

I'm a pretty happy camper in this category since "The Wrath of Khan" is my favorite film and "Amok Time" is my favorite episode. (Have they ever done an ornament from "Amok Time"? I don't remember if they did.) :cardie:

My initial response would be to Spock's death scene near the end of TWOK, but I'd be interested to know what other folks want.:bolian:

One thing I hadn't considered....does Hallmark even have a license to do ornaments/etc. based on the new movie? As I understand it, licensing for Trek '09 is a wholly separate animal from the "rest of it." Only a few licensees have secured agreements to be able to do both. For all we know, another company beat out Hallmark on this front.

Just to keep dragging this past the Holidays;) I understand about the new led lights. Also the fact that Wal-mart here did not have anything but pre-lit trees. But still I feel it is a downgrade when they are not lit unless I push the button. Even when I push the button they will go out in a half a minute or so. Its just not the same;)

I don't have many traditions but my trek tree is a big one. I started it from scratch. At first it was just one... then a few ornaments on our family tree as I grew up. Then they got there own 3 foot tree, Man it looked good:) Not I am 31 and have been collecting them for 17 years. Btw now the ornaments have there own 6ft tree. That tree only has Hallmark Trek ornaments and I say in about 2-3 years I will have to get a bigger tree. It is mostly full on 3 of the 4 sides;) All I can do is hope and dream what maybe a 8 foot tree would look like full of ornaments in 20 years;) What I might leave to my boy in 40 years if I live to 71! I truly hope Hallmark Trek will continue and trek continues!

I too have the DS9 ornament, but I just have it sitting around on its display stand. It's really too big to put on the tree. Same goes for the NX-01 from a few years back.
