A name for the Doctor.

No. He took the name to solve an argument or secure sex from his wife.

Although, why would any woman want to scream their grandfathers name in ecstasy during sexual climax?

Odd girl.

Of course, can you enter into a legal contract, like marriage, without a name?

Taking is wife's dad's name just served his super fat humbleness narrative more.

Oh Look I am SOOOOoo humble I am letting my woman name me, I am taking her daddy's name because I am SOoooo humble I have no ego getting in the way at all.

Or it's horse trading?

"I'll let you name ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL of me, if I can name both your boobs, the back of your head and your bum."

I'm pretty sure if the beautiful blonde wife had a name that didn't flatter the doctor enough he would rename her. He would make it sound like a compliment, "Oh Britney really doesn't do you justice, let me call you Birgit, Birgit Nilsson was a glorious opera singer and as you know I enjoy practicing the art myself.."

Lana seems about right.

Lana is a beautiful name that only certain people could pull off. I forgot she actually had a name and now I wish she didn't have a name as my speculations were for naught.

Rumpelstiltskin,

:)

Ah, I´m amused how the Americans twist their tongue while trying to pronounce it.

In German it is: Rumpelstilzchen.

Try it with "Pumuckl" (pronounced: Pooooooohmooockle). He is a red-haired cartoon hobgoblin.

I think the Doctor should not have a name.

Just an opinion. After all the time it might be odd. I, at least, know who is meant by "The Doctor".

All the different types of EMH, from Mark 1 to whatever.... Keeping track of them is a fool-time job. So there is this blond EMH buddy for instance.

They could be Honk and Fronk or Stan and Olli or something.

If I had to pick a name for him, though, I guess I'd be okay with Zimmerman. Because in a very real sense, the Doctor is Lewis Zimmerman's "child"...

(IIRC, the EMH mark 2 - the one played by Andy Dick - *did* have a name. I think he was called Dr. Bradley. Perhaps that was in reference to the programmer who created that version?)

Think of it from Q´s point of view. How would Q nickname the Doctor? He is quite creative with nicknames: Chuckles, Kathy, Microbrain, Mon Capitan etc....

How about "Brother Louie"! (Lewis)
