A little ship I'm playing with at work.

im getting more of a captains yacht kinda vibe off this. maybe ambassador class? cool though!

I get what you're saying. My take on the ship is that on it's own, it's pretty useless. They only function in numbers. The ships fire a smaller lower yield PHOTORP. The point of having 2 fore and 2 aft is to allow for variability when defending in high numbers against an agressor.

The positives. So they have quite a few photorps. PHASERs. The power to arm them. And quick agile speed, perfect for intra solar system battles. They batttle in numbers. Quick to re-arm/ refuel.

The down side, is they have to re-arm frequently. No warp (though not an operational requirement for this type of vessel). Minimal shield power supplemented by emergeny beam outs. Vaulnerable in small numbers.

Like I said, I'm hardly in a place to judge you. I personally always wondered who thought it was a good idea to apparently leave the aft quarter of the Constitution-class Starship undefended.

Almost done... Still needs some graphics.

I agree with ^

Looks like a good ship. From top, it´s similar to Galactica. :D
The front will remain without windows? Looks to plain at the moment. ;)

It looks good overall, the parts are well-shaped and detailed, but everything is in one plane, and of one thickness.

Looks off because of that.

The time period could be around 2300. I know the Ambassador is a little later, but it could be used then too.

I wasn't feeling judged. No worries there since I've asked for opinions.

I agree. Though I think in the grand scheme of starship combat, it was first conceived that ships would be great distances apart, making aft defences not really an issue. Sorry- offenses.

Very good ship there :) :techman:

Thanks!

Heh- it does look a little like the old one! That's kind of funny. There was logic behind the PHOTORP pods in that they could be swapped out quickly if needed. I like modular technology.

I hadn't planned on windows up front. It's not really an operational requirement of the design to have them. There are a few for docking operations and psychological considerations. But otherwise not really that many.

Fair enough. And this one does actually seem to stray from my initial sketch that is a deck and a half around engineering. Maybe I should go back and build one closer to the sketch.

I like this ship. I also like the original sketch. I can understand some of the criticisms about the current version, but I'd say it's better to tweak what you've got than to necessarily try to reach back to the sketch.

As a concept, I think it would be pretty cool to do both versions. Starfleet's given to having multiple ship classes in the same role. These two versions converge well enough to fit in that concept while being different enough to be identifiable. And I think they are both cool.
